"HORROR & HIP HOP TOP 5 PRIME CUTS" by Rocky from ADHOC LIVE / BLACKLIST MUSIC

Horror and  Hip Hop – 5 Prime Cuts by Rocky from Adhoc live/ Blacklist music

Horror Rap ( or Death Rap, or Horrorcore etc ), a Sub Genre of a Sub genre  that is simultaniously the corniest and coolest sub genre in all of rap. That being said, here’s some groups that do it right and my list top 5 Horror rap songs OF ALL TIME (in my opinion):

5. Natural Born Killaz – Ice Cube and Dr Dre

Not exactly horrorcore artists but this track is murderous. Back when Ice Cube was edgy and scared the mainstream and Dr. Dre was lightyears ahead of everyone else when it came to headknocking beats.

4. Ghetto Boys – Mind of a lunatic

The OG’s and possibly the 1st to do it. Pretty much any cut off this record could be on this list.

3. Cage – Down the Left Hand Path

The 1st “crazy white boy” rapper (that I heard at least) and arguably the best. As the story goes, Cage actually was in a mental institution for a few years, so I guess his craziness is legit. Kinda like the equivalent of street cred haha.  “Movies for the blind” is classic, before cage changed his style up. Yes, his style is very similar to another blond rapper from detroit who appeared around the exact same time. Who came out first? Not really sure.

2. Necro, Ill Bill, Goretex, Mr. Hyde, Carnage – Circle of Tyrants

4 of the illest darkest most bugged out MC’s ever to pick up the mic (5 w/ carnage) all on a rediculous stripped down Necro banger that sounds like he made it in a medeival dungeon. If you can tell me how many Slayer song titles Ill Bill drops in his verse Ill give you free tickets to the next show 🙂 . Just listen to the track and trip out:

1. TIE betwwen Diary of a Madman and 1-800-Suicide by Gravediggaz

THE absolute illest horrorcore record by FAR is 6 feet deep by Gravediggaz and “Diary of a Madman” is the standout track. But the creepiness of 1-800- SUICIDE is unforgettable and RZA, Poetic and Frukwans manic delivery throughout the entire album is amazing. I hit up my dude Shabazz the Disciple to shed some light on the record and his opening verse on “Diary of a Madman” :

WINGZ UP! REAL DOPE AND HONORED TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON HIP HOP AND BECOMING  ONE OF THE FOREFATHERS GIVING BIRTH TO A NEW GENRE IN THE ART FORM! I REMEMBER THE STUDIO SESSION AS IT WERE YESTERDAY WHEN RZA INVITED ME TO COME AND FEATURE ON THE ALBUM. IT WAS MY FIRST MAJOR BREAK IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS, SO I  COULDN’T LET MYSELF OR RED HOOK DOWN!!! TO SEE IT BECOME THE #1 SONG ON HOT 97 FOR 3 WEEKS WAS A MONUMENTAL THING AND TO HEAR ALL MY FAVORITE ARTISTS I LOOKED UP TO SPEAK HIGHLY OF ME AND MY VERSE WAS THE BEST FEELING OF VALIDATION A NEW ARTIST COULD EVER RECEIVE AND TILL THIS DAY I AM STILL AND FOREVER GREATFUL! AT THAT TIME I WAS WRITING ALL OF MY LYRICS IN RED INK! A MISTAKE OR SPELLING ERROR LOOKED LIKE A BLOOD PUDDLE ON THE PAGE! I REMEMBER SITTING AT THE BOARDS WITH RZA AND HE PLAYED THE BEAT. I LOOKED AT THE SPEAKER, THEN LOOKED AT HIM THEN LOOKED AT THE SPEAKER AGAIN AND SAID GET ME A PAD.  PEDRO SIME GAVE ME A PAD AND RZA CALLED FRUKWAN, POETIC AND FRUKWAN IN THE ROOM AND WE STARTED WRITING. I WAS DONE IN 5 MINUTES AND JUST SAT THERE. RZA SEEN I WAS DONE AND SAID , LET ME HEAR WHAT THE GOD WROTE. I STOOD UP HELD THE PAD HIGH IN THE AIR AND SCREAMED OUT “BEAR WITNESS” AS I EXERCISE MY EXORCISM… ETC… HE SAID  GO IN THE BOOTH AND LAY THAT DOWN FIRST!!! I WENT IN THE BOOTH AND SPIT IT IN 1 TAKE AND THE WORLD LOVED ME FOR IT!!! I WAS NERVOUS AS HELL!!! LOL!!! I DIDN’T WANT TO BLOW MY “SHOT”!!! IT BECAME THE GROUP’S LEAD OFF INTRODUCTION SINGLE ONCE THE LABEL HEARD IT. PRINCE PAUL ADDED THE COURTROOM SKIT AND THE REST IS HIP HOP HISTORY!!!! WINGZ UP

Gravediggaz
