Versatyle tha Wildchyld – Q&A Interview

Versatyle tha Wildchyld

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? Well, I am originally from Athens,Georgia, but was born in Augusta regional, my mother has sickle-cell and that’s the only hospital in Georgia that is able to accommodate such an illness. I have had more than my fair share of run-ins with the law and have been through incarceration and drug addiction. One thing I am most proud of is not the gift of music but my ability to overcome anything I have had occur in my life, so many times I knew it was over for me and refused to lay down and call it quits.

How long have you been making Hip Hop? I have been writing music since I was in my early adolescence. I began doing hip-hop in my late teens, and since then have written at least one song a day.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My biggest influences are my children, and  my wife and girlfriend. My biggest motivation is   in making music and songs that inspire people to live better, think better, and treat others with more love and acceptance.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

I would have to say that every song I make has a story and a purpose and is truthful with an honest message and a meaning that can be used to better your life. With the exception of three songs on my newly released album each one has something that can be taken into one’s life and applied in a positive way to better themselves. I have written music for many years and have learend that people respond more to music that has a meaning and that is honest and can be related to, than music that just has a good beat and a catchy hook. Being from the south I take great pride in making songs that people who normally would never even consider listening  to this genre of music find not ony good, but are impressed by the depth and sincerity of my lyrics. Music to me has to make me feel something deep, it has to move my soul, and I am not content with making something that can’t be felt.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

Well, so far I have worked with is Pastor Troy, one of the few artist who actually inspired me to do music in the first place. I would love to do a song with  Andre’ 3000, T.I, The Fray, Skylae Grey, Ellie Goulding, Adele, and  Dot Rotten.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Simply a community of artist’s that don’t answer to mainstream propaganda and materialism.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

I typically work with only two producers “Uptown Deezy, and Bandboy Macho both local producers, and I enjoy working with them not only because they are both amazing engineers, but because I like to take beats and sounds in my head and have someone make them to fit me specifically and they both are impressive with their ability to take the sounds and ideas in my head and turn them into beats that I am content with.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Yes, my new album S.M.A.S.H. just dropped March 15th and is available on iTunes. I just finished recording my new single “I4NI”(MY BROTHA’S KEEPA) featuring Pastor Troy and we should be filming a video on it the next month or so for it, and potentially a commercial for my new clothing line concept and movement im pushing called “Go Hard-Head” all of which will be directed and filmed by my manager and  entertainment label McClure Entertainment Group.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of S.M.A.S.H.? Also, what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover?

I just wanted something that I felt gave the people an idea of how my eye’s view the world, so I went to a location in which when I was homeless.  I   would go and write poetry and sleep in a sleeping bag under a bridge near downtown Athens and decided I would spraypaint the album title, I created this entire album in less than a week. I wrote all the songs in less than fifteen minutes per song. I wanted to prove to the streets that all this commmercial flow can be done with more talent and more taste and still  make sense and souund good, and the first half of  the album could be deemed “commercial”. But the last half is all about my  life my goals my dreams my motivation and my soul.
