SoLo D – Q&A Interview

SoLo D Double Tap Single Art

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I’m SoLo D from Miami Florida but I have lived everywhere from Atlanta, Baltimore and DC to Germany. I’ve been Rapping since 6 years old, but I started taking it serious as a SoLo artist in 2010. I’m the best breathing until they start charging for air, the realest walking until they put me in a wheel chair, I flow like a butterfly sting like a bee but I aint Muhammed Ali Im SoLo D…and I just made that up as I was typing this but we gon run wit it GOE style lol.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

LiFE everything that LiFE has to offer from the struggle to the good times.  I like to be able to speak my mind and I don’t like talking so Hip Hop gives me that Outlet. Also all of the legends before me, the whole lifestyle that comes with doing this; family, real friends, fake friends, studios, live shows, comfortable clothes, fast food, hot dogs, Ramen Noodles, fried chicken, kool aid, Dollar Menu’s, fat guys that try a new diet every month, good girls, hoes, beautiful women, ugly girls, good rappers fake ass CB4 rappers that need to get out the way, risk takers, hustlers, DaOriginalTooDeep, TH Headphones, microphones, 15 inch subwoofers in the trunk knocking down the block, Dade County, Dirty South, the whole USA and the culture.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

All of My music comes from an authentic place I only speak on what I’ve seen, been close to or been through personally. I have lived in a lot of different places from hoods to nice neighborhoods so I can give a real LiFE authentic perspective of both sides. A lot of rappers mainly have one reality; I’ve lived a lot of different ones, so my music authentically touches a lot of different people. My lyrical ability and flow is ridiculous, I can rap about anything from going to jail to a football team.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I have collaborated with a lot of underground artist as well as legends like Pastor Troy, Fatal of 2pac’s Outlaws and I was featured on a song with Stevie Wonder. I’ve opened shows for Meek Mill, Travis Porter, Trina, Pastor Troy, Kid Ink, Kirko Bangz, Bun B and a few others. I have performed everywhere from football stadiums to clubs around the country. I want to collab with artist like Big K.R.I.T, T.I, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg to name a few.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Raw and uncut speak your mind freely non commercial undiscovered Music!

Production wise, who are your influences?  Who does your production?  And who would you like to work with?

Whoever produces form Maybach Music and Cash Money has the best production in the game right now to me. They influence me, I was also HEAVILY influenced by old school Miami Bass party music as well as that old school Atlanta Sound. My favorite producers are Mannie Fresh, Timberland, Swizz Beatz, DJ Toomp and Cool & Dre to name a few. I have had production from numerous different producers.
