Shawn M. was born Shawn Anthony Munoz in Vineland New Jersey. He was born on October, 6th, 1992. He lived his whole life in the state of NJ with parents Maria and Mike Kaslon. He’s the youngest of five brothers, a young 21. Shawn has been inspired by hip hop from an early age. At 12yrs old he worked on a project that was entitled “The Warm Up”. Shawn commended many artists growing up but it was Eminem that had the deepest influence on him. Envisioning the stories and words would always make him work harder on his composition. Shawn gave up the art soon after but it was the emptiness of not working on his craft that brought him back to his first love. He was given the opportunity to witness newer talents such as J Cole and Kendrick Lamar perform. Shawn believes that experiencing those moments have helped him with the courage to pick up where he left off and complete the dream he’s always been destined to do. With him becoming stern with his music he decided to pitch the idea of starting a record label. In a few months Runaway Records was established. He then dropped his first official mix tape on Datpiff entitled “The Prelude”. The mix tape is 10 tracks long and touches a variety of topics that Shawn has been through in his life. Shawn M has just started his quest to the top but seems to be the artist that people can relate to. He speaks to anyone that’s ever came from a broken home, who loves the art of hip hop, and who ever thought their dreams were unattainable.
