“Black on Both Sides” is the debut album of the legendary Brooklyn lyricist Mos Def, now known as Yasiin Bey, released back in October 12, 1999 by Rawkus Records. Prior to his solo project, Mos Def had collaborated with Talib Kweli for the duo’s studio album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star (1998).  “Black on Both Sides” was the type of album ahead of its time featuring an emphasis on live instrumentation and socially conscious lyrics. On February 2, 2000, the album was certified Gold in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), following sales in excess of 500,000 copies.

Yasiin Bey will celebrate his 15 year Anniversary on Oct. 12th, 2014 by doing a exclusive performance doing many of his classic hits at the Yost Theater in Orange County, a local Hip Hop hot spot in Southern California.  This event is expected to sell out, and attract more than a thousand loyal fans from all over the So-Cal area.
