Biggz – Q&A Interview

Biggz

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

My name is Brian “Biggz” Haden. I am from Baltimore, MD and I have currently been making hiphop music since I was 14 years of age so about 12 years to be exact. Its started when I moved from B-More to Virginia Beach. I got together with some friends in my neighborhood and one of them showed me about fruityloops. so that’s when I started to make beats and learning how to sample and chop. From there no one really wanted to get on my beats because they sounded amateur so I took it upon myself to show people how to rap on my beats (haha) and the rest was history.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

First and for most my life experiences is my number one influence but second to that Kanye West and anyone who makes good music, no pun intended.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My music is from the soul. I really don’t write much unless I’m trying to spit punch lines after punch line (haha), but I go in with raw emotion when I step to the mic. I feel like no one can tell my story but me. Then I can also make beats and not just hip hop but commercial beats to go along with what ever mode I am in. So I feel like not many people can perfect both and I feel I have and still continue learning more.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I have collabed with everyone in my group but outside of them I have collabed with artist from everywhere in VA. My close friend in california EJ Royster , and I have done some unofficial remixes with artists such as Kevin Gates.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip-Hop to me means Raw Rap that hasn’t been watered down by commercial yet. You can still hear the hunger in the songs, you know.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

First and for most Kanye West has influenced me a lot and paved the way for other Producer/Rappers like myself to really beat a great rapper and producer Even though there were plenty others before him that have done it to such as Diamond D, RZA, and Erick Sermon.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I am releasing an Album named #Blockadee any day now. I tried to do something a little different this time and actually give the people what they want. Me rapping, producing every song, and mixing and mastering it. Plus pull a Beyonce and drop it randomly! (haha) I also have a project out now entitled “The Nike Project” and I and working on a project with Drop (Lupe Fiasco’s producer) and a cat out of London named Capper Productions. Plus I just might drop a mixtape randomly sometime soon. Idk yet…

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Schem’n? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Single Cover Art.

Schem’n came about one night when i was in the studio working on The Nike Project. I was in the studio listening to beats and that one beat really caught my attention! So I listened to it for about 15 mins and came up with a little melody so I then loaded it in to protools and brought the mic into the engineer room and started uddering little bits and pieces of the hook and from there i let the raw emotion take control. Do to some situations I was going thru at the time I just let the all out on the mic and from there I got the song Schem’n. As far as the cover art I really wanted it to be more but I thought that picture represented how I felt at the moment of creating the song.
