Murdah Baby – “My A’s Is Up” Ft. Computa, Havoc & G Soprano

Gee Soprano grew up around a very music oriented background, parents both separate in the rough neighborhoods of the city of Worcester, MA, The Bronx, NY, San Bernardino, California and Capital Heights, MD. I first got into music at a young age by watching my favorite rap videos on MTV and fell victim to Hip Hop. I started taking rap serious after doing my middle school talent show @ the age of 9 years old. My Relatives such as my aunts and uncles had crates of vinyl with a big record collection I used to dig through em’.. My grandmother as well who I were raised in her house hold had a big Jazz collection to other genres like Blues, R and B soul Jazz, Rock & Roll soul etc. I’d listen to Roy Ayers (Sunshine), Isaac Hayes (Walk on by) Al Green to New Edition to you name it Etta James to Teddy Pendergrass, Bob James, but my favorite artist I found most influenced was Curtis Mayfield (Super fly soundtrack) because of the music it was soul it was about uplifting..and admired the way the album was orchestrated and produced wise. I played and took up saxophone and drum lessons in the advance elementary school Accelerated Learning Laboratory..I was into that but me I’d stay would going through albums collections and spend days in and days out to listen to that classic sounds of Curtis Mayfield, Al Green, Rick James, Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Epmd, Prince Paul, The Ummah, Q-Tip, Etta James, Al Green, The Dramatics, Common Sense, Ronald Isley, Isaac Hayes, The Delfonics, Busy Bee, DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaata and The Universal Zulu nation, Kool Moe Dee, Run DMC, Krs One, Onyx, Big Punisher, DMX, Stetsasonic. As I got older I appreciative of the music. I took up musician lessons and attended the music of the arts as in elementary and middle school listening to it I began to appreciate the production sound of listening to Public Enemy’ (The Bomb Squad), Pete Rock, Marley Marl and the whole Juice crew, Doug E Fresh, NWA, The D.O.C., Ali Shaheed Muhamed w/ A tribe called quest, Q-tip, J Dilla, Madlib, Havoc of Mobb Deep, The Alchemist, The Beatnuts, L.E.S., Bad Boy’s the Hitmen, Dame Grease, Swizz Beatz, Quincy Jones, Ayatollah, Tragedy Khadafi, Nashiem Myrick, Buckwild, Domingo Beatz, Large Professor, Jay Z, Dr. Dre, Daz Dilliger, DJ Quick, The Alchemist and more, but always were in tuned to Hip Hop collecting mix tapes likes of Mr. Magic, Tony Touch, DJ Clue, Doo Wop, Mister Cee, DJ Stretch Armstrong, DJ Kid Capri, DJ Juice. Radio shows I had my tape deck just to hear Hot97 FM The Stretch Armstrong show, Futer Flavas w/ Pete Rock and Marley Marl, Funkmaster Flex show and Mr. Cee old school at noon, Mr. Magic. Style comparisons would be Jay z, Nas, Notorious B.I.G. and Styles p. I would say I would be more of a producer/rapper/lyricist. I then signed to Gas Chamber Records in 2000 as a member of the rap group “3rd Degree Burnz” (G Soprano, J Streetz and Klipz), and put together an album titled “Who We Be”. After releasing the album G Soprano then began to create a buzz locally which opened up doors to even perform as an opening act for industry big names such as Ruff Ryders, Ludacris & DTP, Fabolous, 112, Mobb Deep, Memphis Bleek, Rah Digga and The Outsidaz, 50 Cent, M.O.P., The Brave Hearts, Blaq Poet (The Palladium), Mr. Vegas, Jeru Tha Damaja, Group Home (Toronto, Canada), Vita the first lady of Irv Gotti & the Inc. Family. The group was local success within the New England area and then went to branch out as a solo artist releasing mixtapes and reaching out for features to stay relevant. My passion for music got me able to be who I am today.
