Richie B Unruly – Q&A Interview

Richie B Unruly - The Next Generation (Album)

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. I then moved to New York to live for 13 years. I’ve been making hip hop music for about 3 years now.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

The only things that influence me in making music is the way I feel and how the beats I use sound.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My music is something that works differently from the music of other artists. Mine is actual music that comes from the heart and soul. It tells a story of who I am and doesn’t create a facade to blind people of what is really going on in the world.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I have collaborated with artists such as Rumeal from Columbus, Ohio , king Jv & Ace Knightz from the group NBE out of the Bronx, New York. I’m open to collaborating with any artist that makes music and not just rap.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

My definition of underground hip hop is the music that people should be listening to or should have an open ear for that don’t get the respect or radio play they deserve.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production?  And who would you like to work with?

Production wise, I’ve worked with names such as Chino cheeze, Gino bambino, slay Doe, Kyran John, Boy Boysie, Ynd Ziggy and Dizz. My influences in the lane of production would be Kanye west and J Dilla. I’m willing to work with anyone with new ideas and likes being in creative spaces.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

My current project I’m working on is called COA: Coming Of Age.  It is the sequel to my debut mixtape ” The next generation “.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of The Next Generation? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Album/Mixtape Cover Art.

The concept behind the cover art of TNG is that the eyes are the window to the soul. You can always read what a person thinks and feels by looking them in their eyes. We are all said to have a third eye. The third eye is what sees our true spiritual selves. On the cover, in the place of the third eye, you will see me facing an open casket. That image represents what turmoil inside my soul was brought from the death of my grandmother. Only people adept in reading emotions through eye sight can see the pain in the blank stare represented by the solid stare. It also represents what I see in the world and how the lessons I learned from my grandmother as her next generation should be passed along to the generation after me and so forth.

Making this project took some time and each beat along with song ideas, concepts and lyricism all had to intertwine with each other and mesh perfectly or else my picky nature wouldn’t want it to flow together.

Where can we find your music and info?

My music and information can be found on YouTube, soundcloud and Facebook by searching up Richie B Unruly.
You can also find me on Twitter, IG and snapchat at Gyn_Rummy.

Any shout outs?

I’d like to shoutout the people who played a big part in helping me get this project together and who has been motivating me through it all.

People such as SlayDoe the producer, Gino Bambino from Novallo, my father : the counselor from 16 bars rap battle league and my closest friends from The Higher content.
