ALPHAMALE – Q&A Interview

ALPHAMALE

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I was raised on the East End of Long Island (NY), I was actually born in the Bronx but adopted directly from the hospital. I have always been a writer but didn’t seriously getting into making hip hop a career path until around 6 years ago after I graduated from King’s College..

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

I make hip hop because growing up I was the type to hold everything in and I still do that to an extent but through my poetry and song writing I have been able to express myself and tell my story in hopes to connect with people who feel similar or face the same struggles

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My music is hard to describe because it really goes by my mood. I enjoy making up beat party music, but me real passion is in telling my story and showing that hope to overcome any issues you may be facing. The biggest difference I see is I am not the type to try to fit a part. I make what I enjoy and know, I dress how I feel comfortable, I am just me! A person that respects the craft and enjoys bringing my own style to the game.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

Currently most of my collaborations have been within my Hip Hop Head (3H) team and with the likes of up and coming artists Enigma (NM) Tank White (CA), Demzwon (AZ), Frank Kastle (Canada) and One Oak (NY). As I move forward I would really like the chance to work with Krizz Kaliko, Wrekonize, Crooked I and J. Cole.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

I think Underground Hip Hop holds many different meanings, Too some it is a lifestyle that they feel fits them, to others its a stepping stone to reaching the “mainstream”. I don’t know how I would classify it to be honest but I do know the Underground is where REAL HIP HOP lives.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

I wouldn’t say I have a set production influence, I work with very talented producers that each have their own sound and it helps me to be more creative. On my last project I worked with Tony Bella, Stigmata, NewDerseyBeats and SK. In the future if I could work with any producer it would be Swizz Beatz, just could I like the feel of his track and it would take me outside my comfort zone.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I am currently promoting my album All Sides of Alpha which can be found on more online Retailers, while continuing to promote my book “This is Alpha” which can be found on Amazon and Kindle. Also pushing the recently released video for the Intro off of All Sides of Alpha and Follow My Lead which is currently on YouTube.

While working on a follow-up EP I am helping to promote the projects coming from my Hip Hop Head (3H) brothers. including “631” by The Season (on Datpiff and SoundCloud) “LOB” by Status (Coming Soon and .”Small Thing to A Giant” by Tha Kid Jae (Coming Soon)

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of All Sides of Alpha ALBUM? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Album Cover Art.

The idea for All Sides of Alpha came up because I was sick of hearing people repeatedly tell me I lack the “Industry” sound. I wanted to show listeners that I can do many different styles of hip hop from party to gritty to political tracks. The goal was to showcase my lyrical ability and ability to cater to many different audiences.

The cover helps put an image to the idea, because it has 4 of me in the different persona’s you would attach to the styles of music. The gangster, The Bottle Popper, The Professional and just ME.
