NoFace, Rapper – Q&A Interview

NoFace, Rapper

Congrats on what you are doing out of Woodbridge! For those who don’t know who you are, introduce yourself. How long have you been making music?

What’s goin’ on guys! I’m NoFace, Rapper from Woodbridge, VA. I’ve been doing music for awhile but I’ve only been doing it professionally for about a year now.

Where did the stage name “No Face” come from? It’s quite original.

It’s actually somewhat of a reminder. Sometimes we get caught up chasing fame and forget about the individual who loves creating art but isn’t famous. If I never get put into a position of fame I’ll still make music. By calling myself NoFace and my fans “FACELESS” I stand for being authentic and putting out quality work at all times, regardless if it becomes a full time job or not.

Let’s talk about the new project “A Couple for A Couple” dropping on Valentines Day? What the concept of the EP?

The concept of the EP is based on love and adoration of your significant other. I made this EP because I wanted to make actual love songs, which are missing from hip hop as a whole. I’m a grown man who is in love with a woman and not many artists speak to me when they are talking about women. I also needed a gift for my woman for Valentine’s Day LOL.

A Couple for A Couple - no face

We notice it’s a short 2 track EP? Is that on purpose?

Well the long version of the EP title is ” A Couple of Songs for A Couple in Love”. That’s super long so I decided to shorten it. “A Couple for A Couple” sounds alot more dope and artsy and shit ya know lol?!

Who did the EP artwork? What the idea behind that?

Shoutout to my dude INK. he a beast with the graphics high key lol. I told em I need something that depicts love but isn’t corny lol. He delivered somethin that exceeded my expectations and didn’t bust me over the head with prices lol (you know how yall graphic designers do lol).

Who are your influences? Lyrically, and production wise.

I have so many influences. Ranging from Lupe Fiasco to Killer Mike to 90s R&B. Individuals like B!nk, Just Blaze, Madlib, Dr. Dre, DJ Premier have some of the most soulful and dope production I’ve heard. I’m also influenced by my own life that I live. I have a tendency to look at things in life and ask questions. Why does it have to be this way? Who made it this way? My folks brought me up to question everything.

Any future project? Shows, Tours, Etc.

I’ve recently started writing again. I’m in the early stages of another project. You’ll find out a lil more about how I think and see the world on the next one.

The highlight questions, that’s your meaning of “Underground Hip Hop”?

I believe underground hip hop is where the artform of rapping can be most pure. People like to make fun of underground hip hop but the game is changing to the point where it’s a necessity to be underground or independent.

Shout outs?

Shoutout to UGHH, INK, any fans or people reading this. Go get my EP entitled “A Couple for A Couple” which drops on Valentine’s Day for free. #FACE
