Q&A With Fresh Saint Louis Based Hip Hop Artist D-Tay

Hey ! We appreciate you and your team reaching out to @UGHHBLOG. Please tell me how long have you been rapping? Where are you from? Do you remember where you were at exactly when you wrote your first track!!??

I appreciate everyone @ughhblog for taking the time out and working with me. I also want to thank your staff for having an open mind and for seeing my music for what it is! I am from Saint Louis and I have been rapping ever since I was in highschool but haven’t really been pushing out music until I was just recently signed to an independent label named “Endless Records.”

We want to be blunt, we have recently been promoting your music to our audience and we heard it hard form them, you have been the talk of the town here at the office. Tons of negativity and to be honest. To be transparent as possible, what answer do you have to our fans/audience who love to express themselves, Keep in mind we do cater to a niche audience of more older heads than new Hip Hop heads. As the saying goes, you cant make everyone happy, right??..LOL

Lol, yes thats true you can’t make everyone happy. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion and have their own personal taste in music. I appreciate all feedback whether it’s good or bad but regardless of what type of feedback I receive, I will always remain positive and continue to do music because that is what I love to do!

Tell us about your Hip Hop and/or music influences? This goes back to the last question, not everyone has the same influences. Underground Hip Hop might be different for you then to others?? So, who/what are you Hip Hop influences?

I have love and respect for the Hip Hop game period! I am influenced by all genres of Hip Hop from the past up to the present. Hip Hop is contantly evolving and that is why Hip Hop is
not going anywhere!

Please breakdown the creative process of your latest single “Real Money”.

Sometimes people want to make that quick money in the trap but I’m talking about making that “Real Money” by pushing my music worldwide
and building an empire to set up generations of my family for life! I’m not trying to be about that life. You have to think big to become big.

What are you looking forward to for 2017? Anything you going to be doing differently compared to past years?

I just started my career as an artist on “Endless Records.” I have good people behind me who support me. I am already seeing progress in such a short period of time.
I am looking forward to taking my career to the next level!

Any new projects coming out!?

I am currently working on a couple of new projects now so you will be hearing something from me soon. This is just the beginning!

Rappers nowadays think by throwing up a few videos up on social media and pushing quick projects, they can blow up overnight! Give us your view on how over saturated the market is right now with so many MC’s/Producers but not to many quality music.

Yes, it’s true that some MC’s and Producers put out quick projects and videos. It’s about quantity of music instead of quality of music because they feel they have to do this to stay relevant. Not knocking their grind but I rather take my time doing projects and put out quality music. I want to gain fans because they love my music. I want my fans to get to know me and respect me as an artist.

How often do you perform LIVE? Any shows lined up in the near future?

I am more focused on doing different projects in the studio right now but I am performing as much as I can locally to give myself exposure and overtime
I will eventually branch out to other cities.

Where do you see yourself in 5yrs time?

I dream big so I see myself as mogul, an entrepeneur, a brand and on top of my game in 5 yrs.

Here it is! Our most popular question! What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?

To me underground hip hop is a community who supports all independent artists and are open-minded to their creativity and how they
express themselves.

Lastly, and shout out?

First I would like to thank “God” for creating this path for me.
I’d like to thank my label “Endless Records” for taking a chance on me and
my family, friends, and fans for all the support. I’d like to thank @ughhblog
for creating publications for independent artists like myself and giving us
a opporutunity to tell our story and share our music.
