Eros (Houston, TX) – “Q&A Interview”

View More: http://impactvideoproductions.pass.us/empirehoustonTell us a little about yourself?

I go by Eros I am of east African decent, but I was born and raised in Houston, TX. I currently live and go to school in Ohio. I been rapping for a while but its been two years of me officially doing this. Shows, recording etc. Son Of Aphrodite is my first real project, we put a lot of work into it and I truly hope you enjoy it.

Musically, who are your influences who paved the way for your Hip Hop push?

Musically i’m a southern cat, but you’ll never hear it my voice or flow cause I was raised in very African household. But it’s always been a down south thing that pushed me to rap. BunB, Paul Wall, Zero, David Banner, Outkast, T.I. Etc. I can actually remember the day I knew I wanted to be an artist my mother had a little club in the H, and when I was 14 I used to clean up the bar for extra cash. One night she had Juvenile & Trae the Truth in there and I got to watch the whole set live, I wanted to meet them but I was two scared I legit hid behind the bar but I knew for them it was more than just rap. Entertaining for them was life & its moments like those that pushed me to Hip-Hop.

Describe the music, and what separates you from other artists?

My music has an outsider approach to hip-hop, not along the lines that I dont belong just that its different from the heavy bass and over exaggerated hi-hats you would expect to here from a Lex Luger beat or Meek Mill track. My favorite track Living Legends is extra jazzy, horns, live drums, etc. What separates me from other artist is my upbringing, I’ve lived in and out of Africa my whole life so for lack of better words ive seen some shit. Things that make you question life and all the things it stands for. But those same things I question gave me the clear answers to why I do this.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would like to collab with in the near future?

I’ve worked with the very talented singer/song writer Jen Miller. As well as two dope rapers Casanova Jones & BD the prophet who are all on the album. I want to really work with the producers Hippie Sabotage cause their beat are pure flame. On a larger scale I’d like to work with Rappers like Cole and musicians like The Black Keys.

Definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip-hop is the untouched, the untainted, the un-influenced. Its Hip-hop that means something to that artist, and their listeners. It’s the music you take your time making. Even if you hear it on the radio you can tell where the roots of the song lie.  Thats underground Hip-hop in my opinion.

Production wise, who would you like to work with?

Production wise I’d like to work with Hippie Sabotage foreal, Da boi wonder, Jcole, No i.d., Pharrell, there are an onslaught of producers id love to work with but of the top those are the few that come to mind.

Promoting any current or future projects?

Right now I’m promoting “Son Of Aphrodite”.

Describe the creative process in making your music?

The creative process if there is one that goes into my music would probably be a couple of beers and some coffee.
