Young Rob (West London) – “Q&A Interview”

1390765931_vlcsnap-2014-01-24-21h12m04s36Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I’m a London based Rapper Born and Raised in Accra Ghana but west London has been my Home for the past 10 years now. Been doing Hip hop since 2006.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

That’s a good Question. The Hip hop Culture alone has had a very big influence on me and being able to express my thoughts, what/how I feel is what influences me.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

I make that kind of feel good hip hop. I try keeping it positive as much as I can but when it Comes to getting Shit off my chest I do give it a bit of that Hard core feel [SMILE]   If you know what I’m Saying.  My versatility and flare for creating catchy hooks is what separates me from other MC’s.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I have had the Pleasure of working with some really good and talented Artist out here in Uk and the States too Such as  FLAME DASH G , BARN-B , SONATA KAY , NU:GEN, STYLUS  just to name a few  .  Common is one artist I’d love to work in the near future …Spoke to the nigga last week he still aint got back to me.. shhhiiiiet [Laughing] just kidding, but yeah that’d be great.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

I’d say it is the non-Commercial side of hip hop that has more originality and talent than the bullshit we usually see and hear on TV and Radio these days.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production, and who would you like to work with?

I’d Say Dr Dre, J Dilla and Kanye West.  I got a few producers I work with from Time to Time. EDIXION BEATZ, DEEWAYNE, DON ASERO & JAMIE FROSTBITE but Most of my work is produced by A Very Talented Producer called T WILLIAMS.   No I.D is one producer I’d like to work with as well.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Official video for the mix-tape http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvHlpHTuT1E

Currently working on an EP and Album these projects will be released later this year.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process on your latest MIXTAPE project.  Also/ what was the idea or concept  description about your Album Art Cover.

Had my headphones going through this huge playlist of beats. I came across a beat I had previously worked on with a few hommies back in the days. It took me down memory lane and looking back it just hit me knowing all these hommies gave up on the game.  I actually came up with the Title STILL @ IT. The idea of the Tape was to express myself and thoughts and how I felt about certain things. I got into the lab and we just started Recording.  It turned out to be my best project so far.  In terms of the cover I wanted something Simple but Captivating and I think we were able to pull it off.
