Terp (Annapolis, MD) – Q&A Interview

Terp

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

My Name is Terp I’m from Annapolis, MD currently living in Newark,DE.I represent Low Life Crooks and I’ve been making music for just about 10 years steady

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My influences for making music are the ones who surround me. Im apart of an amazing group of talented artist and producers who give me that extra motivation to push my talent to the next level. As a kid my brother drilled a lot of Big L, Nas, AZ and The firm into my head along with opening my eyes to 9th wonder,Black Thought, and No ID type of Hip Hop. That straight raw lyricism not the bubble gum pop shit that’s popular today

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

I feel as if my music is more on the lyrical side of the playing field. Although making your everyday party track is natural, I like to shed light on current issues the conflict our generation today. I feel that doesn’t really separate me from most real “MC’s” but puts me in a different lane from other “Rap” artist

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

My collaboration list is very deep but most notable comes from my own camp and i consider this man to be a brother from another iLL DiLL Tha ViLL. In the future i hope to somehow collaborate with either Andre 3000, J. Cole, Logic, or Dizzy Wright

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

My definition of “Underground HipHop” is the power to be independent while drawling a main stream following. Keeping everything in-house with people you truly vibe with creating soulful feel good music.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

Production wise my biggest influence was defiantly Alchemist. He is an absolute genius on the boards and a legend by any means. I work with a team of producers all of which are apart of the Low Life Crooks family ( Icee The Producer, Kramadik, Sunny Beats and Gilli Beatz). In the future I’d be very interested in sitting down in the studio with J. Cole and coming up with a project he produced. After finding out that he produced “HiiPoWeR” on Kendrick Lamars Section.80 project i knew i had to work with him some day.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Right now my album “Life of a Low Life” is out and currently available for purchase on i-Tunes for every who support upcoming artist, But for others its available for FREE on datpiff.com and soundcloud. This year ill be dropping a mixtape that isnt titled yet and also releasing an LP called ” A Terpe’ De’ Soul Story”

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of LIFE OF A LOW LIFE EP? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.

Life of a Low Life Ep was made specifically to get the message across that we are here, and will be here until we no longer are breathing. We created the project to not only show the progression of our gifts and talents but we wanted everyone to know that we plan on being around for a while like it or not. You do not have to like us, but you will damn sure know who the hell we are! I kept the album cover fairly simple because I’m a very easy-going simple person. I’ve never really been the flashy type. I live by the expression ” People see you first, Hear you second” so i knew when people saw the cover they didn’t really know what to expect. I feel as if it made people curious are that’s the way I like it.
