First Dirt presents The Declaration of Independents Tour 2015″

The Declaration of Independence Tour was put together by indies for indies.  There is an air of entrepreneurship in the music community more now than we’ve seen in a long time.  More and more people understand their potential and power.  This idea is amplified when you include the idea of networking and partnering up with new groups in new markets.  Essentially, The DOITour encourages, empowers, and teaches what that looks like in action.  First Dirt, The Indie Entertainment Summit, Indie Things Possible, The Gas Station, and UndergroundHipHopBlog have come together to bring you resources, synergy, and a platform to build off of.

The Declaration of Independence Tour is an opportunity for various indie artists and entities to come together to create our own thriving culture outside of the existing corporate structure that excludes us if we don’t have a budget and a hit.  This platform was built to allow artists to meet their counterparts from other regions and link them into their movement in order to use the momentum to propel everyone involved forward.

The DOITour is looking for the cream of the crop and the best hidden gems in the biggest markets in the USA.  Are you that person?

The Road To IES:

The Indie Entertainment Summit is in North Hollywood in early August.  The tour is designed to raise awareness of this independent music conference.  IES is a place where anyone involved in the indie world can come and learn, network, and grow.  It’s a very intimate, close-knit, open minded community that has grown over the past 3 years.  Kevin Black, Steve Lobel, Violete Brown, Chang Weisburg, Jerry Heller, and many more have all attended and spoken at IES.  All parties involved in the tour have the opportunity to partner up with IES as well which will add tremendous value to your brand.

Event:

To consolidate promotional efforts, each event will be created to be a mini festival.  Community centers, halls, and schools are our target venues in order to create the kind of atmosphere we aim for.  It will incorporate music, vending, community, and activities.  It will target the surrounding areas as well as the main city in order to make it inclusive to the entire region.  As much involvement as we can generate will determine the amount of time and funding we should invest in each location for marketing.  All ages, diverse, empowering and cultural are key terms in thinking about our target market.

Contest:

Each event will be a contest to find the best performances in the region.  There will be a sign up fee and certain guidelines to enter.  Judges with some presence in the market are of importance.  The sooner we can secure the judges participation, the better our chances of signing up the best contenders.

Media Partners:

Having a presence online will be beneficial to everyone involved in the tour.  Finding partners that can commit to posting the tour and offering some service or value to the prize package in exchange for premier promotion for the duration of the tour is ideal.  Having an actual person from the company to cover the events in real time would be the best situation.

Prize Package:

In order to create value for the artists, there must be a prize with direct value to their careers.  Marketing tools, promotional tools, design work, studio time, consultations, etc all have worth to an artist and their development.  Resources from the Indie Entertainment Summit will be offered as a prize.  Local vendors contributing gift cars, product, and time would be ideal as well.
