Q&A With Tampa Bay’s Rising Hip Hop Artist Junie Goons

Junie Goons!!!!! We would like to mention that when we got a hold of your latest single and visual, we were definitely blown away!  Much respect to you for being such a dope MC in this much-needed over-saturated Hip Hop underground market!  You really stand out!  How long have you been rapping? How did you get your MC name?

Thank you, that means a lot to me. Well; I’ve been rapping since I was a kid, but I’ve really been making it my art since 2010.

My family nickname is Junito and Junie stemmed from that, and I was known as a bit of a tough guy when I was younger and that’s where the Goons came from lol.

Your new video is really dope!  Please break down the creative process to your video!  How long did it take to shoot?  And did everything go as planned?

Appreciate it! The video took two hours to shoot, everything went better than we expected. I originally wanted a black background and a white background and was under the impression that we would have no black background. Then we showed up to the set and there were both black and white backgrounds at this location and to top it off the throne was a surprise.

How important is ORIGINALITY to you?  You really don’t sound like anyone we have heard!  Definitely a plus in this music business!

Originality is # ONE. I take my art very seriously.

Any now projects you are promoting?  What are you working on now?

I have a new song coming out called Foreign Ft. Dave Abrego; there’s a preview on soundcloud if you want to check it out, I think this one’s hot too. I’m also working on my new Ep In God We Trust.

What are you doing differently in 2107!! It’s a new year and everyone seems to have a new game plan is this highly aggressive underground Hip Hop market!

Nothing. Lol this may seem cocky but I make music that I want to make; I make music that moves me and that I think will move others.

Are you looking for to sign to a label?? or do you feel by sticking to the underground/Indie market you can do just as much!  We are connected to hundreds of well established indie/underground artists who are doing really well financially not needing any majors backing them.

I really don’t know; there are a lot of legalities with deals like that. Not all deals are good deals and I don’t want to lose my creative freedom.

How often do you rock LIVE!!??  ANy shows/tours coming up?

I haven’t rocked live for a minute. I’ve been focusing on creating music and spending time with my family. If things start popping off for me then an Indie tour may very well be in the near future.

Your top #5 RAPPER LIST OF ALL TIME……LOL???

B.I.G, Redman, Nas, Eminem and Big L.

We appreciate you reaching out the @UGHHBLOG!!!.  How important is it for you to be getting published not just our site, but other music blogs!!??  As you know online press/media coverage is always a + to reach new audiences.

It’s tremendously important; the more places I can get my music heard/seen the better. I want to share my music with as many people as I can. While we’re on the subject of promotion I want to take a second to thank you for letting me shine for a bit and helping people get to know me.
