Q&A With Hip Hop Artist GHX$T3EYES

Hey GHX$T3EYES , we would like to thank you for your contribution to underground Hip Hop and keeping the culture alive! I really enjoyed your new EP “T.R.I.P”! Please tell us what exact area code you represent? How long have you been making music?

Even though I live in North Carolina, I represent the 757, Chesapeake Virginia to be exact. Virginia is where I was born which makes it a big part of me and my music as well. I’ve been creating music for 7 years now. Its been a long awaiting journey but I am blessed to see my hard work finally paying off !

What influenced you to become an Hip Hop artist? What were the main factors that got you into, quote on quote, “Underground Hip Hop”?!

I’ve always been a big fan of hip-hop growing up. My mother would have to be my biggest influence, she use to have a huge CD collection that I couldn’t keep my hands off of. I had always thought about creating music, I finally acted on that thought my sophomore year of high school at the age of 16. When I first started I honestly didn’t know that I was considered an underground artist lol. I didn’t have any type of direction, I was just creating music.

Your style and rhyme scheme is super raw, hard-hitting and ORIGINAL. How important is it for your to stay ORIGINAL? How would you describe your style?

Staying original is very important, I don’t shoot to sound like anybody else. Once I was able to understand who I really am as a person, that’s when the originality kicked in. at the age of 19, I took 2 years off dropping music to perfect my sound and the learn the business. The style that I create is “Indigo Rap” which is a hip-hop Sub genre that I am putting on the fore front. Indigo Rap is highly creative music that challenges and shifts everyday reality . If you had to put me with a group of artist it would have to be flatbush zombies, The underachievers, Mick Jenkins, and Danny Brown just to name a few. My style is psychedelic and very unorthodox…..

Tell us about the creative process for your new EP “T.R.I.P”! Any interesting features on it?

The creative process was very life changing for me at the time. I isolated myself away from anything that may have been a distraction; Meaning friends, family, and the outside world. Call me selfish, but not many individuals understand the “Process”. And by the “Process” I mean ” Self Awareness”. I didn’t happen to have any features on this project, but I did have the help of two other producers named “Astroshroom” who produced track 2 of the project entitled “TRIP” and “Miiikey” who produced track 7 of the project entitled “3rd Dimension”.

In 2017, who is on your own personal music rotation playlist!? Any new artists you are listening to?

Jay idk is personally top 10 in my rotation hands down ! Idk was actually an influence to my next project that I will be releasing to the public in 2018. He helped me be open to releasing the tension that I had growing up, we shared some of the same stories and experiences. But of course Flatbush Zombies, The underachievers, Mick Jenkins, Ab-Soul , Danny Brown, Big K.r.i.t, School boy Q and the list just goes on lol .

Any new projects and videos you are working on? Planning on a tour anytime soon?

Yes, I’m in the process of working on another project that will be released in 2018 entitled “Cursed Blessing$”. Cursed Blessing$ will be based upon my story, life experiences, and a lot of hidden messages. This will be the project for my listeners to really get to know who I am as a person and what I bring to the table as an artist. I would be interested in a tour, if one happens to present itself then why not ? For right now my main focus is to continue to grow and build by connecting with my supporters and future supporters. Whenever they are ready for a tour, I’ll be one stop away…

Out the box type question, If it came down to 1 ALBUM only, what underground Hip Hop album would you consider THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!???……One 1 album you can choose.

Since you asked for an underground hip-hop album I would have to choose “Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.S” by Tupac. I grew up on a lot of hip-hop, that album was powerful !!!!

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”

The definition of underground hip-hop for me personally would be one word and one word only……ORIGINAL !!!!! No strings attached what so ever !
