JesusGang – “The Good News” (Album Review)

Lumont Deshield (JesusGang)Drops his 1st project of the year titled “The Good News“.  The Christian rapper is following up a 2017 release “The Good Samaritians”. What I noticed was the crisp sound showing a more confident Lumont Deshield as the production was much more diverse with a trap touch. It was a pleasure to review the last one I had great expectations

The album begins with “Beast” showing the rappers bar for bar ability setting the tempo for the rest of the cuts. I like the aggressive music approach raw energy, The rapper has improved precision as he explains the perception of questioning the world from a Christian ideology. Mothers Lullaby started with the dedication to the matriarchs of life the mother & father. The conceptual arrangement worked in the artist favor as he glides over the abstract Trap baseline creating his own pocket.

“With Or Without You” is a radio-ready song, I can hear it on top 100 rotation, The visual must capture this same image & you will have a banger on your hands. When “Positivity”  came on the beautiful voice carried it over capturing my attention from the jump. The content in this cut was magic as the vocalist brings it to new heights reminded me of Talib Kweli “Get By”. Rise was sorta dry and seemed like a filler track. “Nightmares” was dope from production to the overall feel, The hook as captivating I admired the well put together song as it was my fav as far as production.

As the album continues we run into “Dantes Unferno” Hands down my favorite track all around on this entire tape. I liked the visual he painted as a kid forced to learn the way the ways of the world. “Choices” had a nice feel to it , the song was about free will & how those choices become your life.
