Q&A With Rising Florida Based Hip Hop Artist Mr. Me

Tell us about the underground Hip Hop scene out there in Florida? Is it growing or is it stagnant! What is you take on this…

The underground Hip-Hop scene in Florida is blowing up faster than i think the country realizes. There are millions of people doing music around the world but I feel that Florida has been slept on the last few years. With the tragic passing of xxxtentacion, despite all that circled his life, his music obviously inspired millions around the earth including many famous current acts. His work is just a preview of what Florida has to offer to Hip Hop.

Let’s face it, social media since 2015 has grown tremendously, especially IG!!! Tell us how is your IG grind looking, and how have you been able to keep up with the high demand on social media?

TBH this is probably my ONE and ONLY low note. One of the mottos in the south is work work! Pushing the hours and paying the bills it’s been hard to find the moments to use IG to its full potential. Lately I been connecting with other artist to see how they do it and the last few months have seen tremendous gain and interaction.

Please breakdown the creative process of your single?

Ah man, that’s like the equivalent of getting the Coca Cola secret recipe! Really over the years of doing this I use to always try to start with a subject, start with the hook and then work down the verses. Doing this made me feel like i was stuck in a box and limiting my music. Later last year i decided to stop that and just let the beat drive the pen. This beat is from one of my very first music producers who now has 4 platinum records with different artist and also 2 gold records. Once I heard this beat, it took me no more than 45 minuets to write it from start to finish. The melody that starts the song is what drove the tempo, the bass is what gives it the energy, and the first thing that came out of my mouth when I heard the intro was “Law’d Get Me”.

How often do you perform live?? Any indie DIY tours in the works?

This is an area where I argue with a lot of other artist and managers. I have not done any live shows since the start and from the stories I hear from the artist who do, currently have no motive to do one. I firmly believe if you have something hot, something fresh and something that the people are going to eat up, you’re going to make it regardless of doing a show or not. This does not mean i will never tour, just means that the timing hasn’t been right yet.

How do you feel about the whole XAN & LEAN trend these kids nowadays are on!!!..LOL??? Be honest, do you use some of that stuff??..LOL

You know kids gotta be kids. They say the only way to learn something is to do it. For myself my only choice of drug is music and alcohol. If anyone doubts that, you can go back to my very first song from years ago and I rap about getting wasted!! An Alcholic??? NAW!! Just someone looking to drown the pain HAHA.

What you got cooking next? Anything special for Summer 2018!!??

The pot is always brewing, and the block is always hot, the moment you stop working is the moment that you flop! I literally make a song at least once a week! one week (my last project Bass Trap Work) I actually did 4 songs in one night from writing, to production! ME never stops and is always trying to find the next song to get more and more people hooked!

Our most popular question, what is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Simple, Hip-Hop that has not made main stream yet! I think the bigger question is whats considered main stream now of days? Everyone’s on Soundcloud and Spotify! I honestly can’t remember the last time I played the “main stream radio” it’s only Spotify and Pandora for me.

Any Shout Outs?

First and foremost I give all the praise to God. Been to hell and back more than I can count but for some reason he has a plan for me. Also want to shout out to all the people who believed in me even when i was just starting out trying to make my own beats and nothing messed together and sounded like complete dumpster fire!!! But still gave me the confidence to continue. I also have given a big shot out to BOOM and the UGHHBlog for the consideration! Lastly I have to thank my fans and everyone streaming, downloading, following, commenting, and loving my music…… without YOU!!!! there is no ME!!!! that is trade marked BTW HAHAH!
