Q&A With Rising Hip Hop Artist All Dae

Yo All Dae!! We are blessed to be able to get exposed to your great Hip Hop music, especially being from Oak Town!! We are also looking forward to the full review a well!!  Please tell us a bit about yourself?

I grew up in Frisco (Sucka Free City), Califas (California) and currently live in Oakland Ca. I have always been deeply rooted in music as a person because my immediate ancestors were musicians or just loved music deeply. I never thought I would be an MC but I have always been a poet doing open mics and kill’n cyphers. My potnas on the block were always rapp’n so I have always been around artists and one day I realized that my message was important, I think uniquely about my experience as a black man, and my voice needs to be heard. I also actively work to find ways to fix issues with environmental pollution because that affects poor people first the majority of my family struggle in poverty. Luckily I blessed to have an intellect to keep myself from extreme poverty but I am still proletariat ( working class ). It is the artists duty to reflect the plight of the people and the times we live in – if an artist isn’t doing that they are not an ARTIST. My work in environmental justice, social justice, and rap is all equally important to me because they are extremely interconnected. I also work as a freelance director of photography and make my own visuals so hit me if you need that work. Samples will be on my youtube page. Many works unreleased that are coming soon.

What part of OAKLAND are you from? And how long have you been making Hip Hop!?

I am from Frisco but I live in West Oakland. I’ve been a poet all my life but I have been making music for about 7 years. I always thought my music was lightweight too radical until just recently so this is my first public project.

We noticed you are 100% in tune with the real underground/conscious style of Hip Hop. Being WOKE as we say is he best way to create raw music from the inside! We love what the mixtape is all about! Please let us know the influence behind your style and mission statement behind your music…

So many influences… The Black Panther Party, Bell Hooks, Ivan Van Sertima, Albert Einstein and Nikolai Tesla, Albert Campus, Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Fela Kuti, Public Enemy, Earth Wind & Fire, Sly & the Family Stone, Henrietta Lacks, , Emmett Till, Coughnut (RIP), Explosive Mode, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Nina Simone. The list goes on and on. My influences come from Science, art, spirit, freedom fighters, martyrs, and family.

Tell us about the underground Hip Hop scene out there where you are from? Is it growing or is it stagnant! What is your take on this…

The hip hop scene in the Bay is like crabs in a barrel – no one helps each other and everyone is dragging each other down. The Bay has always been a hub for independent music but recently is hasn’t been as popp’n as the history shows. Sad to say most artists from the Bay are still promoting gang violence and drug culture instead of other shit. And, the artists that aren’t from the Bay the move here as adults ,but rep the Bay, aren’t representing it well ( like Tupac Shakur did ). It’s hella talent out here that don’t get seen because the business side of things isn’t popp’n for the home-grown but it’s also hella weak lightweight. There is the good and the bad.

Let’s face it, social media since 2015 has grown tremendously, especially IG!!! Tell us how is your IG grind looking, and how have you been able to keep up with the high demand on social media?

I don’t really use IG that much to promote my music honestly. I have it as a platform to get art out but I really just be in my own lane wit IG.

Please breakdown the creative process of your new mixtape? Any music videos in the works?

I have been dealing with a lot of personal things in my life-like the lost of a lot of family members. So, I have had a hard time getting this out and writing. I have a strong stream of consciousness so writing songs isn’t hard if I put in the work to sit and get it done. New videos are coming soon – July.

How often do you perform live?? Any indie DIY tours in the works?

I perform like 3 times a year. It’s hard as fuck when you spit raps like the ill scientist. I am working with some of the homies to try to get on tour.

How do you feel about the whole XAN & LEAN trend these kids nowadays are on!!!..LOL??? Be honest, do you use some of that stuff??..LOL

I think it is a reflection of the healthcare system in this country – the majority of drug addicts are addicted to prescribed drugs. I cannot say honestly say that this “healthcare” system is a true form of medicine yet I cannot judge either. When the hyphy movement was in full effect I was a young teenager and pop thizz like skittles. But, I realized how it was affecting my body and quit that shit. I tried lean too but could fuck with it because it caused me to flash on people for no reason. I hope that people realize this drug movement is just another movement by major companies to make money from death.

What you got cooking next? Anything special for Summer 2018!!??

Videos, videos, videos. And, I am currently recording an album to be released hopefully in October of this year.

Our most popular question, what is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Ground Zero of hip hop. Its only true and purest form made in the trenches by the trenches for the trenches. It is how we create journalism without a printing press and education without the government or dead presidents. It is the child of Blues, Jazz, Soul, Gospel, and R&B made for all the people to see. It is how to reach other people outside of our community. It is magic – if used by the wrong person will be destructive.

Where can fans find your music? Drop all links!!

soundcloud is the place to find my music at the moment. Datpiff is where my mixtape is but I will be on all platforms soon.

Any Shout Outs??

Shout out to all my ancestors who came before me and to all my fellow Earthlings. If we do not figure this out we will not have a place to call home!
