Young Corn – “3” (Single Review)
Ohio based, Atlanta bred is the narrative for rising MC Young Corn. Primed to take the industry by storm, Young Corn has been diligent in building on his loyal fan base who are at the root of his motivation to forge forward in his pursuit of becoming a household name. Supporting him every step of the way, they champion his sonic which he has branded as “melodizing.” A slew of music with this sound is available via his Sound Cloud feed but this time around Young Corn has raised the stakes with his digital release, titled “3.”
With the usual auto tune melody introducing us to Young Corn’s new single, 3, the repetitious beat pattern warms up your expectation of what’s to come. Honesty. Corn opens up by telling us about the long nights and days associated with his high chasing behavior, “smoking on strong.”
Haunted by bad vibes, Corn shares the harsher side of the reality of street life and relationship between dealer and customer. The subject matter switches to the other essential element of the party – girls. Lots of them. Nothing new to the self-proclaimed player Young Corn. What would a rap song in this generation be without a little kiss and tell? Carrying the melody well Young Corn runs us through a dream night for any other but regular night for him.
First class flights, designer clothes and enough of everything else you need to go around. Just the life of a rising entertainer. “I be super cold fresh head to my toes / Go and get the doe flip that 3 times in a row.”
At the Bridge, reality sets back in – which one? Overdose, stress, and deadlines. Not for his latest project but the plug and the load. Must be nice. As the single fades Young Corn shares his wins “I done ran that bag up three times in a row.” His losses – “I done took my ex back.” Doing them all “three times in a row.” A great play on the theme and title “3.” Mission accomplished if you ask me. For its niche, this is a successful single that I can see myself catching a vibe to off a Patron and Pineapple in a City near you.
