Jerrell Grimes – “Them Smart Girls”

Hip Hop Artist Jerrell Grimes’ verbal flexibility, when combined with the desire for honesty, respect and transparency, makes for the perfect transition between thought-provoking poetry and lyrically sound Hip Hop.

Grimes’ creative energy was first expressed in personal journals, and eventually evolved to full poems and books. His desire for literal fluency expanded after coming to terms with the emotional evolution that his long recovery from cancer provided. The strength and courage exhibited physically became manifested as literary explorations resulting in three published poetry-style books, his debut EP “Versatility” and a host of additional feats.

Surviving cancer triggered Jerrell Grimes’ metamorphosis to verbal self-liberation, which is apparent throughout his musical creations. Often compared to the sound and lyrical content of Hip Hop’s finest MC’s such as Notorious B.I.G , Nas and Common, Grimes focuses his efforts on remaining true to the foundation of Old School Hip Hop.

His latest song, “Them Smart Girls”, the first release from his second forthcoming unnamed mixtape album, is an ode to educated hard-working women and the men who respect them as such. Noting women as queens and men as kings, Jerrell Grimes makes a bold approach to the club anthem arena on a track that is sure to get crowd moving.
