Q&A With Queens, NY Underground Hip Hop Artist Anthony Michael
Hey Anthony Michael! We appreciate solid music, especially form true up and coming Queens, NY area MC’s. Please tell me how long have you been rapping? Where are you from? Do you remember where you were at exactly when you wrote your first track!!??
I’ve been making music for 13 years
I’m from East Elmhurst NY
My first rap I ever wrote was in my room. I made my own battle rap over Mobb Deep’s Shook Ones.
Your style and rhyme scheme is super raw and different! How do you describe you sound? How long did it take for you to find your sound?
I would describe my sound being east coast based, conscious, structured and clever.
Since I started rapping it took me about 2-3 years to find my sound. However it alters through time.
Tell us about your Hip Hop and/or music influences? Any NY influences? Was there anyone in your life that motivated your to STEP IT UP when it comes to making dope Hip Hop?
My biggest influence being from Queens is definitely Nas. He’s one of the greats and being from the same borough has a major affect on my music.
My biggest motivators were the people I made music with at my earlier stages. Keeping me on my toes and always expecting something better than the last.
Please breakdown the creative process of your latest album?
So the creative process towards my latest project was actually to record a bunch of tracks (19 or 20 I think) and pick the hottest ones to push out on the internet.
Any pressuring situations before you decided to push your album? Did everything work out according to plan?
I didn’t feel pressured at all. When you love what you do you remain positive and optimistic. Everything worked out perfectly.
Any new projects coming out!?
I’m working on an EP now that I’m hoping to release by the end of this year in December. I haven’t thought of what I’m calling it yet.
Everybody wants to be rich and famous and that’s understandable. However quality is key in the music industry. You can’t expect to get noticed just because you drop a new song/ video everyday. Yes consistency is important but without quality it means nothing.
How often do you perform LIVE? Any shows lined up in the near future?
As far as performances in the near future I don’t have anything lined up at the moment but best believe I will in time.
Where do you see yourself in 5yrs time?
In 5 years I WILL BE one of these artists people are talking about like Cole, Logic, Kendrick etc.

Underground Hip-Hop is Hip-Hop artists and music that have not risen above the surface into the mainstream world just yet.
