Q&A With Atlanta Based Hip Hop Duo Shilla
– How long have you guys been making music? How did the group formed?
G.r.i.e.f: The group started in college back in 2014 we (Shilla) started recording together and since then we been making music, we released our first project called the “Red Solo” in 2015. Been making music together ever since.
– Coming from 2 seperate parts of the country living in Atlanta, how is the Hip Hop scene there?
G.r.i.e.f : All the music sounds similar and too repetitive. But the production is always on point.
Hollywood : Its a grind like everywhere else but here its like everyone you run into makes music which can be good and bad . Good because theres so much creativity around & thats always cool but bad bc with everyone making music it can be hard to take anyone seriously but again thats an everywhere thing.
– Describe the style of music you guys make for your fans?
G.r.i.e.f : We try to be versatile and experiment with different sounds. We always try to switch up and keep people guessing.
Hollywood : Whatever we’re in the mood to make.
– Congrats on the new EP, “8”. How did you guys come up with the number for the project?
Kobe. and the number 8 is a symbol for a new beginning.
– Who produced the album? Which producer on the project did you guys have the most fun working with?
We just grabbed a bunch of beats we messed with on Youtube really. Would be dope to work with all those producers one day though.
– Since this is an EP, is there a album in the works?
Hollywood : Yea something is always in the works just gotta put it all together the right way. A whole lot of music between now and then though. Have an EP called Summer Luv coming out in a few weeks or next week not sure yet.
– Our popular question, what is your guys’ definition of underground hip hop?
G.r.i.e.f Underground hiphop is where it begins for a lot of up and coming artist. Avenues such as Soundcloud, Youtube, Worldstar etc.. its where it starts a pool of talent.
