Shwayze Brings Feel-Good Vibes to Venice West

On Thursday, July 17, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Aaron Smith—better known by his stage name, Shwayze—shut down the stage at Venice West with an unforgettable performance. Headlining the Thursday night show, Shwayze brought an intimate crowd on a nostalgic journey, performing a mix of his timeless classics alongside selections from his more recent releases. The energy inside the venue was electric as fans sang along to every word, creating the perfect atmosphere for a night that celebrated both his legacy and his continued evolution as an artist.
The evening featured a pair of surprise appearances that elevated the show even further. Sky Blu, one-half of the iconic party duo LMFAO, took the stage to join the celebration, bringing his signature high-energy performance and keeping the crowd moving throughout the night. Legendary underground lyricist Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship also made a special appearance, adding another memorable moment.
Shwayze first burst onto the music scene in 2008 alongside longtime collaborator Cisco Adler. Together, the duo released their self-titled debut album, which featured the breakout hit “Buzzin'” and quickly established Shwayze as one of the defining voices of the late-2000s alternative hip-hop and beach-party sound. Their unique blend of rap, pop, reggae, and laid-back California vibes earned them a dedicated fanbase and helped shape an era of feel-good music that continues to resonate with listeners today.

As the years went on, Shwayze carved out his own path as a solo artist, releasing multiple projects that showcased his growth both musically and personally. While staying true to the carefree style that first made him popular, he has continued to evolve his sound, proving his longevity in an ever-changing music industry. His performance at Venice West reflected that journey perfectly, balancing fan-favorite anthems with newer material that highlighted where he is today as an artist.
More than a decade after his debut, Shwayze continues to demonstrate why his music has stood the test of time. His performance at Venice West wasn’t just another concert—it was a celebration of his career, his connection with his fans, and the enduring spirit of California’s party-rap culture. With surprise guests, nonstop energy, and a catalog full of hits, the night served as a reminder that Shwayze remains a beloved figure in hip-hop and continues to leave his mark wherever he performs.
