Fysh&Chyp – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourselves. Where is the group from & how long have you guys been making Hip Hop as a collective?
We were raised in a small town called Hawkesbury, an hour in between Ottawa and Montreal. we’re French by the way, we bilingual I guess now haha and in our crooked little town there’s Nothing much to do there but play hockey, do drugs & party or skateboard. not much people get out of it. we both had different lives but we both ended being friends because of all the partying and we hung out with our group of hippy/weirdo friends. We started a young age, a lot of our friends have just started experimenting with everything right now in college so, we connected on an other level than everyone. we were always in the metal and rock music, anything that was trippy or really hardcore we felt it, So we started writing at about 13 years old.
Worked and worked on our craft for years, Fysh couldn’t even speak english for a couple of years, so we worked on our sound and what kind of path we wanted to pave. Now its been 2 years that we’ve released a huge amount of tracks for our fans everywhere with We Family Entertainment with our good friend and work partner Dan Cousineau. And 1 year ago we started our own collective of artist that are spread around the mixtape, as a collective we are Yrys Gang.
What influenced you guys in becoming a Hip Hop group?
Really, first and first. Lil Wayne, no lie. He’s the one that we saw that had the dopest image and dopest music while we were getting out of our really young and trippy age.
He’s bars, Flows, Melodies and shit.* im not sure i can say that but damn. Weezy is the best for us, and his grind is real, picked up skateboarding and has an umbrella of
some of the greatest artists in the world… let’s just say he’s a huge inspiration, And We’ve always wanted to be rockstars, art has been our life. Plus we do it for our mommas man. Where we come from, there’s no hollywood. It’s for us to change that.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
It’s 100% real, all emotions and life experiences, from struggles, to trips on different things, breakups, and the new like our team and everything that’s going behind the scenes. We’re french so there’s some slang and weirdness to it because our accents sometimes. But we love that, and people seem to love it too. We have our own sound, its spacey , trippy slurred , weird , but its real music, from our words to the beats we pick. Everything is there for a reason. We got a supreme team. yend…
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
We have some pretty big features on the way, can’t spoil it for the fans right this moment … haha all i can say is people won’t expect them at all 😉 But we do have a feature which Goliath Paw that means a lot to us. He’s an up and coming artists in Canada that is making a lot of noise with his Canary in a coal EP.
Man if we could work with anyone soon it would be deff be like Ricky hil, dudes the realist. Travi$ Scott , Young Thug , The Weeknd , Drake , Yeezus , and of course Weezy… and like Metal bands & sh*t. we’re more into the weird stuff.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Our definition of underground hip hop is just the rise of hidden talent everywhere, the Underground market has grown so much that back in the day it was limited to what you consider Underground. Now that there is so much doors open it gave the chance to everyone that didn’t want to limit themselves to a certain beat or tempo. It’s awesome. It shows evolution in the game and that’s what we need.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production?
A lot of people, we love all music pretty much so we can appreciate different kinds of production. But right now its all Jay White. He’s the man, till the end.
He’s a part of Fysh&Chyp, we found our sound together and we’ve been working exclusively with him for the pass 6 months.
And who would you like to work with?
All the new cats that are going hard right now, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, All of 808mafia, Young Chop , Mike Will, TRAVI$ SCOTT!?! Kanye obv. Pharrel.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
Well right now we are promoting our SUPREME BEYYNG mixtape. and our shows we have coming up in the next months. After we have planning on releasing our 1st single off our Free Album on Halloween. No names yet. just wait on it. its gonna be GODLY. and watch for A LOT of music videos.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Supreme Beyyng? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Mixtape Art Cover.
SUPREME BEYYNG was really for the fans, and the people who don’t know us and want to heare good, new music. we’re going to very visual with it, and that’s our plan with all our projects. We love movies, and trippy videos, it’s always trying to mix the best of both worlds together. SUPREME BEYYNG means being a super hero, be a God. Take your life to the next level and save it from society. Chyp did the artwork, it’s a big potion of emotions and visions. Fashion and Futuristic Influenced, we just thought of making our albums like pieces of art. We have very limited hard copies and if you have one you know how important it is. You are holding a piece of history, it always ends up being about the pure art.
