Hugo – Q&A Interview

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I go by the artist name Hugó,I’m 24 years old and I’m from Hartford,Connecticut.I’ve been contributing to Hip Hop as an artist for 2 years but been involved in Hip Hop since 2009.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My biggest influences would be life itself and the love and passion I have for Hip Hop.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My music is pretty much my life on record.It’s a combination of good times living life,staying true to yourself and your beliefs,and life’s realities.What separates me from other MCs is my delivery,flow,and passion/determination to be great.Im also very eager to learn and get better.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I’ve collaborate with the artist Mr.Buzzworthy,Marc Angelo,and Kaso.I would love to collaborate with Nipsey Hussle,Wiz Khalifa,Curren$y,Ab-Soul,Mac Miller,Dizzy Wright and J.Cole.Im willing to collab with any one serious about their craft though.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop in my opinion is Hip Hop that’s not on the mainstream market.

Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?

My influences production wise are Pharrell,Just Blaze,9th Wonder,Timbaland,and Dr.Dre.My production consist of many producers but I’ve worked with KaCe The Producer,Finale,and Matcy P the most.

I would like to work with anyone who can take my sound to the next level.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I recently released my debut mixtape  entitled UNKrowned K.I.N.G on 9/24 it’s available on Datpiff. I’m currently working on a EP entitled Domain Hugó which will be released in early 2K15.Keep your eyes open for that!

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of “UNKrowned K.I.N.G.”? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.

The creative process was based on straight drive and hunger.Utilizing my outlook on life as well as my life experience (past,present,and what I see in my future) as the fuel for the process.The concept of my album cover art was based on of Egyptian GODs and Royalty.Im working to be a GOD MC so I felt it was only right to big up the original GODs.
