JQ The Kruzan Innovator ft. Y Fresh — ON THE LOW

“LEH WE GUH!!! (Let’s Go)”

Currently finalizing his debut album (Not yet titled) and upcoming mixtape #Unorthodox, JQ The Kruzan Innovator is on the rise in the music scene. He currently has three singles #StopTheWar #OnTheLow and #UpAndDownSheGo as well as his previous single #IzThatRight on rotation in all the major FM radio stations in his native US Virgin Islands as well as other popular online radio stations including Coast 2 Coast Radio, Be100 Radio, Nuradio Station, and A105 Radio.

Hailing from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, “JQ The Kruzan Innovator” was born on August 15th, 1985, JQ began rapping in the summer of 1999 at the age of 13. A free-styling artist, he was able to create rhymes without a pen and a pad. This made studio work a breeze “Just run a beat and let me work.” Although most artists around him were heavily influenced by different Caribbean genres of music, JQ gravitated more towards Hip Hop. JQ developed a style in which he combined rap, his Cruzan accent and Spanish influence into a unique blend enabling him to connect with a wider audience. JQ is mostly known for his rapid delivery (Influenced by his favorite rap group Bone Thugs N’ Harmony) and versatility with the ability to switch styles from bar to bar.

JQ first earned respect as an emcee at a local level by battling other respected emcees and winning the “You Got Served” Talent Competition in 2004. Later that year, JQ opened up for Lil Wayne in St. Croix’s “Drive-In Night Club”. In 2006, JQ moved to Atlanta to further his music career and has since delved into different aspects of the entertainment industry including producing, songwriting, beat making and a slew of other talents that are guaranteed to make him a marketable brand. JQ aims not only to be acknowledged as a talented emcee, but also an entrepreneur and household name in the industry.

Growing up in the projects of St. Croix (Aureo Diaz Heights) JQ is no stranger to struggle. Due to the lack of opportunities in work and education people like himself are often forced to leave the US Virgin Islands to pursue their goals. JQ cited a lack of extracurricular activities offered to the youth as a direct impact on their tendency to turn to crime. JQ strongly supports the improvement of education, healthcare and the job market in the Virgin Islands as well as the rest of the world. JQ had an aunt who succumbed to breast cancer in 2008 and has since been interested in all efforts to find a cure for this epidemic. JQ also supports ‘At Risk Youth’, ‘The Make a Wish Foundation’ as well as any efforts to assist the less fortunate because that is where he began.
