B Flossy – “Been Flossy” (Album Review)
San Jose artist B Flossy drops his new album “Been Flossy” with a sound that appeals to the street, the hard beats, and raw concepts bring life to the San Jose scene. The introduction was a skit involving B Flossy getting ready for a studio session while highlighting the support systems he has built on his journey. The intro serving as a theatric beginning now has the listener anticipating the rest of the tape. “Life Of Floss” is certified, the double entendre used in place of boss brings more substance to the conceptual song. B Flossy rhymes “You’re not a boss until you took a loss” everybody’s been in that moment of despair but what determines strength is how you bounce back from it.
“Real Questions” is exactly that, B Flossy asks himself the realest questions about associates around him. There always comes a time when you must cut people off who do not serve the overall purpose. This song is already my favorite on the album, I love the way it transcends with the Emcee’s life. “So Crazy” is a bomb towards all fake ass Emcees who don’t really live what they rap about. “Ahead Of The Game” is another direct shot at the new school commercial rap era, as B-Flossy and HIP-HOP advocates are tired of the de-evolution of HIP-HOP. The hook in this cut is repetitive but it works because the track is sonically pleasing.
As the album continues with “Trouble Intro” it begins with a cop pulling over B Flossy and acting in an aggressive manner, all while B Flossy is calm cool and collected during an illegal traffic stop. As we hear the audio, the officer asks the artist to step out of the vehicle in a hostile manner which introduces the next track “Trouble” dropping in with a cold Marvin Gaye sample. This song brings out the classic feel in the Emcee & further balances the album. Very inspiring words used with a HIP-HOP jazz vibe.
“Damaged Goods” goes right into the storyline about a woman who is cheated on by her spouse with her best friend, making her trust for people turn obsolete. The 2nd verse is the same situation but this time it’s a guy being cheated on by a woman for a man with more money. “Wake Up” is dope, the reggae sound elevates the listeners’ perception of the album as it starts to shape out more. “All I Really Want” is well produced as it speaks for itself, the magical vibe mixed with the rapid flow creates a pleasant sound. I feel the hook could have been structured more but still a banger. Now towards the end of the album “Nova Cane” hits my speakers and sums up the album with a classic soul vibe, I applaud the project as a whole as the totality manifested a solid album with dramatic ups & downs.
