Badillo – “Late” (Album Review)
Ready to take on the world, up and coming Vista, CA based Hip Hop artist Badillo makes his full-length album debut with his latest work, titled, “Late”. With so many new sensations coming out of CA right now, will Badillo follow in the same footsteps?
“Late” is a well-balanced project dabbling in rapping, emotion, anger, story-telling, and assuming he produced this whole album himself, a great mix of trappy and boom bap beats. At the least, this kid isnt your 100% TRAP rapper, thank god, truly representing raw unfiltered Hip Hop coming out of Vista, CA. His voice, cadence and oveall vocal output truly makes you aware instantly that Badillo was born to rap.

The production and subject matter on “Late” is deemed worthy with its trendy new cutting edge sound; however, easily identified as carbon copies of mainstream tunes with the use of artificial preservatives. Totally understandable for a standard recording artist at Badillo’s current status. Artificial but dope production nonetheless. The only drawback is the similarity with mainstream, losing out on its authenticity as the producers copy sounds on the hookup.
Badillo’s bars is definitely a reflection of his influence on “Late”. Throughout the experience, we discover that Badillo has tailored a catchy custom lingo that convinces newfound fans that he is bandwagon worthy. Badillo excites with off the dome creativity, radio-friendly suggestions, and unorthodox play on words. Practical, lucrative, and appealing, Badillo sound could be controversial but lyrics amusing.
Overall not an unusual sound, “Late” is a convincing discovery. Journey through the project you will endure peaks and valleys of his inside battles, struggling as a youth and overcoming all odds , with sense of enlightenment at the destination. Definitely Badillo did his homework and paid attention in the school of Hip-Hop. Simply a prelude to many big things to come in the future for the rising star, “Late” is outstanding by conventional means.
