JMisJustMe – “Justme Being Me” (Album Review)

JMisJustMe is a rapper who was born and raised in Los Angeles and draws influence from a range of musicians that spans from Miles Davis to Nipsey Hussle. The driven rapper released his debut album titled “Justme Being Me” recently and this 7 track body of work is hustler music.

Westend” is the third track on the album and a favourite. JMisJustMe enters this track with flawless cadence and once he has your attention, he proceeds with story telling bars. Lyrically this song is a reflection on JMisJustMe’s life, filled with truthful gems and slick flow switches. Production wise, this is also one of my favourites on this project.

“Double Back” is just a track that  goes hard and in my opinion, this is the hustlers anthem on this album. On my first listen, I felt like the beat needed more width and I kind of still do. But JustMe flows on this one so well that it all just comes together regardless. Flow switches for days on this song, which really serves as a testament to JustMe’s ability to play with complex rhyme schemes.

“You The One” is the last track on the album and another stand out. The production is hard hitting, ambient and clean. The LA wordsmith approaches this track in his usual fashion; with cadence, flows, bars, ad-libs and the presence of a vet. This beat was definitely a favourite for me. What a way to close out a debut!

This was a fun album to listen to and the fact that it was a debut makes it even more impressive. JMisJustMe has put some serious time into his craft and you can hear it.  I am definitely looking forward to seeing where he takes this. Follow him on Instagram: @jmisjustme
