Hip-Hop Star Ja Rule Set To Follow The Rules For MTV
Hip-hop star Ja Rule is set to star in MTV’s newest docu-series ‘Follow the Rules’. The network gave the concept a very confident straight-to-series order and the show will revolve around the rap star-turned-actor and his family life. The hectic household is reportedly the perfect fodder for some reality based comedy antics from the Rules.
The Grammy-nominated Rule will star alongside Aisha, his wife, their daughter Brittany, sons Jeffery Jr. and Jordan as well as both Rule’s mother and his mother-in-law. Rule and Aisha married back in 2001 and the talented father of 3 is said to have quite a unique parenting style which viewers will find funny.
The weekly series will give us a greater insight into the behind the scenes life of the star rapper and follows on from his recently released and openly honest memoir ‘Unruly: The Highs and Lows of Becoming a Man’. And if it wasn’t difficult enough to live with both your mother and mother-in-law all under one roof then Rule will also have to deal with the fact that his eldest daughter Brittany is also heading to college for her sophomore year.
The 38-year old Grammy nominated star began his musical career back in 1993 with hip hop group Cash Money Click. And when he gets time away from the family he also enjoys playing some part-time poker where he spends his time playing craps in live casinos over in Las Vegas. He can, of course, always hone his skills online first over at Royal Vegas Casino before hitting those tables.
Follow the Rules’ is by no means the first of its kind and will be following in the footsteps of similar famous families who also starred in their own popular reality shows. Former famous families who also gained fame from their own reality shows include ‘The Osbourne’s, ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ and ‘Hogan Knows Best’. Back in 2005 MTV also commissioned ‘Run’s House’ which followed the everyday activities of Run DMC rapper Rev Run, AKA Joseph Simmons, and his family. The series ran for 6 seasons to mostly positive reviews. It would seem the winning formula will no doubt gain a loyal following very quickly especially from fans of Ja Rule’s other careers.
The show will be produced by 51 Minds’ Christian Sarabia, Jeffrey Atkins, Queen Latifah and her Flavor Unit. Co-CEO Shakim Compere and Irv Gotti will serve as executive producers.
