On Friday, July 17, hip-hop icon O’Shea Jackson Sr., better known as Ice Cube, shut down Long Beach, California, with a memorable sold-out performance at the F&M Amphitheatre. The legendary MC delivered an electrifying set that showcased decades of classic records from his extensive catalog, reminding fans why he remains one of hip-hop’s most influential artists.

Cube didn’t take the stage alone. Joining him was longtime friend, collaborator, and Westside Connection groupmate WC, who brought his signature West Coast energy to the performance. Together, the duo treated the crowd to a collection of fan favorites, creating an unforgettable experience that celebrated the legacy of West Coast hip-hop.

The event served as a celebration of the beloved Friday film franchise, blending music, comedy, and nostalgia into one unforgettable evening. Fans were able to enjoy exhibits featuring memorabilia from the iconic films, along with heartfelt tribute displays honoring cast members who have passed away over the years. The celebration also included a lively costume contest, where attendees dressed as memorable characters from the Friday movies, adding another layer of fun and fan interaction to the event.

Hosting the evening was comedian and actor Mike Epps, whose longtime working relationship with Ice Cube made him the perfect master of ceremonies. Epps first joined the Friday franchise in Next Friday before reprising his role in Friday After Next. The pair also starred together in the cult-classic comedy All About the Benjamins and The Janky Promoters. Throughout the night, Epps kept the audience entertained with his trademark humor, effortlessly balancing Ice Cube’s serious, commanding stage presence with his own energetic comedic style. Their chemistry has remained undeniable for more than two decades, and it was on full display throughout the evening.

Adding even more star power to the lineup was legendary Houston rapper Scarface, one-third of the iconic Geto Boys. Scarface delivered a powerful performance packed with timeless classics that reminded the audience why he is regarded as one of hip-hop’s greatest lyricists. His commanding presence and emotionally charged delivery had fans rapping along to every word, making his set one of the night’s standout moments.

Representing the host city was Long Beach legend Warren G, who brought the unmistakable sounds of G-funk to the stage. Performing many of his biggest hits, Warren G had the crowd singing along while celebrating the music that helped define an era of West Coast rap. His smooth performance perfectly complemented the evening’s nostalgic atmosphere and reinforced Long Beach’s lasting impact on hip-hop culture.

From beginning to end, the event was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of music, film, and West Coast culture. Ice Cube and his special guests delivered a night filled with classic records, unforgettable moments, and heartfelt tributes that honored both the legacy of the Friday franchise and the artists who helped shape hip-hop. For fans in attendance, it was an evening that celebrated the past while proving that these legends continue to captivate audiences today.
