Slug + Murs Return as Felt With New Album “Felt 4 U”
Today, Felt—the iconic hip-hop supergroup comprised of Murs and Slug (of Atmosphere)—drops a surprise album: Felt 4 U. The duo signaled a triumphant return from an eleven-year hiatus earlier this week with the standalone single “Name In Ya Mouth” before following up with a full-length album produced by Ant of Atmosphere.
With all the core elements that established Felt as a cult favorite still in place, Felt 4 U offers a fresh perspective from two virtuosic lyricists whose talents have only matured in the years since their last album, Felt 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez, was released. Nestled among the new album’s twelve tracks are high-powered guest features—a first for Felt—including appearances from Blimes, The Grouch, Aesop Rock, and Shepard Albertson (an alias used by Blueprint when he sings).
From the opening chords of “Never’s Enough,” with its funk-fueled retro feel, to the outrageously smooth vibes of “Underwater,” Ant effortlessly blends the voices of Slug and Murs as they reflect on everything from personal growth to cultural change. With a series of ideas and insights delivered with the intention of furthering discussion, Felt 4 U rises to meet the current moment and signals that the Felt saga is far from over.
