Aria – Q&A Interview
– Aria, let the world know where you are from? Lets us know your roots to Hip Hop.
I was born in Washington DC which is where I still am and represent, but I have roots in Turkey and Iran from my parents. As a child I would go to Turkey for a few months every year with my mom and experience what it was like to grow up in that part of the world. Words can’t describe how different the lifestyle is over there. Being there and being able to listen to Turkish hip hop along side what I had already helped me gain more versatility in my style.
– Any major influences in Hip Hop?
As a rapper my biggest influence is probably Kanye. His music got me through some tough times. Business wise though, my biggest influence would have to be 50 Cent. That mans hustle never stops.
– Where the the name “Aria” originate from? What made you use that name?
Well the name Aria is my real name. I originally started with Cryptic Silence as my rap name but not only did that not really define me, but I feel like if I really want to show people who I truly am, I should use my actual name.
– We notice you are young and have a skilled lyrical style in your raps. Did it take you a long time to grasp your style, or have you always spit like that?
Oh no I did not start with any lyrical skill at all. If I’m being completely honest, when I started rapping I was trash. But my ambition wouldn’t stop and I put work in. I’m not done yet either. I’m not even a tenth of what I feel I have the potential to be. To answer the question, it did take me a while to get to where I am skill wise, but I’m not even close to finished with my growth.
– We noticed you announced the cover to the new mixtape. Drop some info on the new project, and when is it dropping?
Well the project is called “Trust Nobody” and it comes out on May 23rd. It’s a little bit darker than most of the stuff I’ve put out in the past but I feel like I really need to get some of the stuff on this project off my chest. There are still some bangers on there so don’t worry. Tracklist will probably come out soon as well.
– What can we expect out the new project?
A lot of development and maturing. It’s not just going to be fun songs that go hard like I Am Ignorant was. There are some songs on here that really took some digging for me to make. I can’t really give out too much information but as I said, the tracklist will come out soon and the project drops May 23rd. I’ll probably give out some more information on it when I can.
– Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”.
I don’t really think there is a definition for Underground Hip Hop. I think every artist is trying to get their word out there and to do that, they have to strive to pull in an audience that will listen to what they have to say. Maybe their message has something to do with partying, or making the world a better place, or anything really.
