B.A.D. REMY – Q&A Interview

BAD REMY

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How did you get your Artist Name?

I Go By The Name Is “B.A.D. Remy” & I’m From The South Bronx, New York & I Am A Young Hip-Hop Beat Making Music Producer & A Radio Host For “Crack Radio” Bought By “TTMGNY” Coming Out Of Tuff City Styles. To Be Honest I Came Up With My Name When I First Started Producing About 2 Years Ago In 2011. I Thought Of A lot Of Names & B.A.D. Remy Sounded The Dopiest So I Just Chose That. Originally The “B.A.D.” Stood For “Beats All Day”, But Then I Found It Kind Of Corny But I Still Wanted To Keep The Name “B.A.D. Remy” So I Just Left It As Nothing. As Of Right Now It Just Means Absolutely Nothing & It’s Just An Acronym & That Is What I Do With Other Titles Or Things. It’s Just To Put It There.

What inspired you in making Hip Hop Beats?

What Inspired Me To Make Hip-Hop Beats Were Watching & Listening To Great Musicians, Singers, Rappers, Poets, & Producers, As Well As Loving Music In General & Growing Up With It Being From The South Bronx Where It Hip-Hop Began. Also What Inspired Me Was Listening & Watching To Years Of Great Artist & Producers Such As Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Andre 3000, NAS, Rick Ross, Toni, Tony, Tone!, SWV, TLC, Boys To Men, New Edition, Bel Biv Devoe, Beyoncé, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Timberland, Pharrell, Just Blaze, & etc.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other Producers?

My Music Is Different In All Ways. I Am A Very Diverse Producer. I Am A Sample-Based Producer But I Can Take Sampling To Its New Era & Give It That “2024 Sound” I Can Make Sounds Like Soulful to Trap, To Cinematic & Soul-Trap. I Defiantly Want To Bring That Feeling & That Soul Back Into Hip-Hop Like In The 90’s & Early 00’s But Like I Said Make It Sound NEW.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

I Have Collaborated With Some Producers But Just For Fun, We Never Actually Put It Out. But Some Dope Artist I Have Collaborated With Are Dice Monte, S. Crown, Big Vick, Omar I$ Lord & Etc. All From The NYC Area.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

My Definition of “Underground Hip Hop” Is Hip Hop That Isn’t Mainstream Obviously lmao. But Seriously, It Is Hip Hop That Is More Genuine & Not Really Commercial. To Me, Sometimes Underground Hip-Hop is Better Than Mainstream Because You Hear RAW talent not some guy talking about money he probably doesn’t actually have & dumb down lyrics just so they can make money. But Yeah That Is What Underground Hip Hop Means To Me.

Production wise, who are your influences?  And who would you like to work with?

Of Course Since I’m A New Age Producer & Like Most, If Not All, New Age Producers Influences Are Kanye West, Timberland, & Pharrell. They Are Defiantly In The My Top 3 & Most Likely In Everyone Else. They Influenced Not Only My Sound, But The Sound Of Hip Hop & The Culture That We Hear Today. If It Wasn’t For Them We Wouldn’t Have Artist Like JAY Z, Pusha T, Drake, Justin Timberlake, & Etc. & I Would Defiantly Love To Work With Kanye West, Timberland, Pharrell, Hit-Boy, Just Blaze, No I.D., Noah 40, Mike Will Made It & A Few More. All Those Guys Are Defiantly #CRACK & Are The Main Sound Of Todays Hip Hop & VERY Soon Ill Be Right There With Them.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Yeah I’m Defiantly Coming Out With Up Coming Projects With Queens, New York Native S. Crown & Bronx, New York Natives Dice Monte, Prince Stack & Big Vick. But There Are Defiantly Way More In The Future. As Of Right Now I’m Working Artist In London & Other Parts Of The Country Such As ATL & Other Down South States But The Artist I Named Are The Main Focuses As Of Right Now.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of LIFE OF SIN? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Single Art Cover.

The Creative Process Of Life Of Sin Was Quite Simple Actually. Once I Heard The Sample I Feel In Love With It. So I Wanted To Make A Beat That People Could Actually Sit Down & Enjoy On Any Occasion. That’s Why It’s Kind Of Hype But Yet Calm At The Same Type With Those Clap, Keys, & Kick Patterns. And Of Course Since My Style Is Cinematic, So I Added A Slower Part At The End Of The Beat Just To Throw Everything To The Left Field To Make It More Awesome Because That Is Just What I Do. & The Idea Of The Cover Is Clearly Michael Jackson Drinking A 40 oz With Midgets. That To Me Was Just So Awesome & It Just Fit The Title Of The Song & The Feel Of It So I Put It As The Cover Art. It’s Basically Doing This Out The Ordinary & Living Life To Its Fullest & Enjoying It How You Want To Whether Its Drinking, Smoking, Partying, However. Plus I’m A VERY HUGH Fan Of The Late Michael Jackson.
