BMG – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
I’m from Winona, Minnesota and I’ve been making music for about 2 years now
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
I want to be the person behind the music that helps the fan through everything, you know? Music is medicine, it can help you through a lot. I want my music to impact people like that.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
My music’s a work in progress, I still haven’t found the sound I wanna hit yet. I try to keep focus on the musical and lyrical aspects of my music, not so much the flow like some other artists.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
Chanse M and J-Static are the only two artists I’ve collaborated with so far. I’ll take any artist that wants to collab with me in the future, every artists’ dope in their own way.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Artists that are grinding it out every day and every night to make a dream come true. The Underground scene is very talented as well
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
Dilla, Dilla, and more Dilla. That guy was and still is the master of sampling, I like a lot of Pete Rock’s work too. Right Now, I’m looking to work with producers that I’ve liked working with in the past. I’ll still search for beats on YouTube and bandcamp, but I’ve found a couple of dudes that I definitely want to work with in the future.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
I’ve got my very first album, Adolessons, dropping March 22nd. I’m also introducing a name change with this release. My new name will be Benjamin Williams, but I’m still keeping BMG as like a “sub-name” if you know what I mean. I’m really excited for the release, the music is turning out well.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of BOOS EP? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Mixtape Cover Art.
BOOS is pronounced “booze” and it represents the role alcohol played in my life. Both my mom and aunt died due to alcoholism, I’m just trying to tell people to be careful and to not take things for granted. BOOS is also an acronym, it stands for “Bent Out Of Shape”. Starting from birth, your parents will tell you what’s right and wrong in the world, but who’s to say they’re right? I’m just raising the idea that parents can influence their children a little too much.
Where can we find your music and info?
My Twitter is @ItsMeBmg and my Soundcloud is www.soundcloud.com/imbenjaminwilliams.
Any shout outs?
Man, shout out to anybody whose fuckin’ with me right now. I really do appreciate it. We about to do great things.
