Cuzzo Ton (Richmond, VA) – Q&A Interview

Tell us a little about yourself?  

Well I first want to state that I’m more than just a rapper. I was born and raised in Richmond, VA but reside now in Atlanta, GA. I have always love the art of hip hop since I was younger but I did not start to write my own lyrics until I was 10 years old. At the moment I knew I could make words rhyme I started to make it a hobby of mine.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

My daughter is my #1 influence in anything I do but to keep it simple I’m motivated off of meaningful lyrics and concepts that I can relate to.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

What separates me from others is that I care about influencing others to be themselves and express what’s real to them, more so with just trying to make money. I’m a diverse MC because I actually have a passion for music as a whole.

Who have you collaborated with?

I have recently collaborated with Fred The Godson on my single “Fly Kicks”.  Who would you like to collab with in the near future? I would collab with any person that’s loves what they do and do it well.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

Underground Hip Hop is an umbrella term for hip hop music outside the general commercial canon.

Production wise, who are your influences? And who would you like to work with?

Timberland, Pharell, DJ Toomp, Lex Lugar, Just Blaze, Mannie Fresh, Kanye West and Alchemist.  Who does your production? Myself, Hamma Head Production, Elite Producers, Joe Dirt, Zay, Yankee, and anyone else that’s creative enough to work with.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

Yes, I coming out with a mixtape soon called “Cuzzo Project”

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Fly Kicks video?

I didn’t want to be simple by just doing sneaker video, I wanted to have some type of story line to go with Fly Kicks and Marty McFly from the movie Back To The Future gave me an idea. In this movie Marty McFly had on the the freshest sneakers and he was the kid that got picked on. I felt like I related to this story but with a little twist.
