D-Major – Q&A Interview
Congratulations on your upcoming release date of April 12th for “Suicide Notes”. How do you feel this project will do when it comes to Hip Hop fan feedback.
Thanks, a lot! Suicide Notes will be released on April 12th, my birthday. I spent a lot of time and energy making ensuring that the quality of my art is top-notch. When it comes to feedback from hip-hop fans, I think they’ll find it refreshing. It’s unique. If my project can inspire someone, make someone laugh, teach someone, and make someone else break their mufuggin neck, then I’ve done my job.
Is this the first project under you belt? Or have you worked on others in the past?
I’ve worked on a few projects in the past, but only my day ones know about those. However, This is the first project that really showcases the real D-Major aka The Adamant and what Krooked Clef is all about.
So we noticed you dropped a few singles off of “Suicide Notes” on your souncloud, will this project be considered a MIXTAPE or ALBUM? Does is have original productions?
This project will be considered a mixtape that sounds like an album. We have original productions. In fact, about half of the production is by our in-house producer, DJ Dizzy Cuts.
How long has it took for you to complete this project from beginning to end?
That’s a good question. I’ve completed and thrown away 4 or 5 different projects during the making of this one. It’s been about 2 years.
How does social media play a role on pushing the name D-Major.
Social media has been instrumental in pushing the name D-Major aka The Adamant. We’ve been trying to keep our foot on the gas at Krooked Clef and make sure people continuously expect quality entertainment. Our goal is right in our mission sstatment “Set the tone for entertainment by concentrating our diverse talents into providing the most genuine and engaging experience.”. It’s been really encouraging to see people sharing my music with their friends via social media.
Give us some background on the concept and work put in to create the Album Cover Art?
Well, the title Suicide Notes has a lot of depth and significance, itself. For the album cover art to do it any justice, we had to include some subtle hints at that motif. I don’t want to give away too much, because I believe in personal interpretation. However, I will say this: For those that are music literate, there is a secret message for you if you read between the lines.
Our most popular question….What is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”
The underground is a place where you’re not protected by money. You’re not protected by fame. You’re not protected by theatrics. The only things that matter are your skill as an MC, your authenticity, and your grind. No creative freedom needs to be sacrificed, so when an underground hip-hop act is well-known, it’s usually because they have mind-blowing talent.

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years in the Hip Hop game?
I see us making notable personal and artistic growth. We’ll touring, building,, and helping to move the culture forward. We’ll be successful as long as we stay true to ourselves.
