Icee The Producer – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been producing in Hip Hop?
My names Justin but I go by Icee The Producer. I’m 20 years old & I’m from Delaware. I’ve been producing for 7 years & DeeJaying for over 10 years.
What influences you in making beats?
The feeling the beat alone can give a listener. Sometimes it isn’t always about the lyrics in a song that makes the listener drawn to the song. That’s where I step in.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other producers?
I make feel good music. No certain genre. If I like the sound one of my beats has I continue to build around it so it creates a visual in your head. The many ways I go about making my beats is what separates me from other producers. I can be Deejaying and hear something I like, or even talking about an old show or movie I used to watch and dig for a sample. Or recreate the feeling of watching or listening to that show or song.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I’ve collaborated with my homies Sunny Beats, Gilli Beats, Kramadik, Trevor Mynd, David Felice & that’s the people I talk to on a regular basis and enjoy their music. I would like to collab with 6ix, Black Metaphor, & Sap. That’s just to name a few.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
A ground breaking sound. Showing the true colors of whatever surroundings that artist comes from. No filter just real music. That’s how i see Underground Hip Hop.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
I’m working on my new project #IceeBeOn that drops May 28th 2014. I’m currently pushing iLL DiLL Tha ViLL’s project #SmallWins which I’m the Executive Producer on. Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Drunk Newark Nights 2? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Single Art Cover.
We wanted a record the bars and college kids can party to and keep in rotation. In our state they love to party so we wanted to give them an anthem to party to. So I made the beat as I sat next to Terp and we made the single off my upcoming mixtape #IceeBeOn you now know as Drunk Newark Nights 2. For the artwork we wanted to capture the essence of a packed party to spread the message of having a good time. iLL DiLL who created to artwork for “DNN” did a fantastic job of making my vision come true with the single artwork.
