itsADOLLA – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
The name is itsADOLLA pronounced as (it’s-ay-dolla) representing East Orlando and I tell my story through music. I was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Queens at the age of 14. I say I represent East Orlando cause that is where I currently rest my head and put me in the position I’m in today. I’ve been making music seriously for a year and a couple of months believe it or not.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
The struggle really, my biggest influence were and still today are those who say “you can’t this” “stop trying you’re not going to go anywhere in music”. Proving everybody wrong is probably one of the best feelings.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
My music is something to turn up to or let the listener put themselves into my shoes to understand what I been through or currently going through. What separates me from other MCs is you will never hear something in my music that I never was a part of or witnessed myself. I feel that there’s a lot of faking going on and that’s bad for the fans, when the fan meet the artist of the artist doesn’t live what the fan has been listening to imagine how that fan going to feel.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I’ve done music with Vado, Gunplay, OG Maco who had vine going crazy, iLoveMakonnen who just signed over to OVO. The list goes on but who I want to collab with in the near future would be a record with Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka would be dope for the trap since they cool again now, other than that a few of the greats like Nas, Jay-Z just about anybody that doesn’t sound like me.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Underground Hip Hop is anything authentic and not forced upon I would say. Anything the label put together for solely money isn’t underground hip hop.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
Production wise im influenced today by Kanye, Timbaland, Metro Boomin, Sony Digital can’t forget Zaytoven but there are people who I don’t know production wise that I heard and just a sound in the beat would influence me and spark an idea.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
Currently just trying to get #Witness out to the mass, I feel like a lot of people still haven’t heard the project that I put a lot of time and effort with my team 48 to go shirt noticed. So I’m prepping up music videos and promo items to keep the music going.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of the WITNESS Mixtape? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Mixtape Photo Art.
The creative process was and still is TCMG usually cooks up a few beats, I listen to them and whichever ones give me the goosebumps is the best we rocking out to. So we basically took all year revising everything and till today after the release there’s some spots we could’ve tightened up. Just know the next project we will pick up from where we left off.
The mixtape cover is Lake areola in the background and just me being me really. Most hated across my eyes cause of the hate I already witnessed towards myself.
Where can we find your music and info?
All music and events im attending or being a part of will be on www.itsadolla.com
Any shout outs?
Shoutout to the strongest woman of them all in my eyes my mother first off and God himself. 48 plus my company cause without the company I wouldn’t be here honestly. Other than that shoutout to all the people who rockin to #witness and added it to their music rotation, shoutout to those who don’t like my music but respect the hustle and see me on my grind.
