Kimosabe Stat – Q&A Interview

Kimosabe Stat - Q&A Interview

Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?

I was born and raised in Harlem, NYC and was groomed to be great at whatever I attempt by my parents who just arrived to the states from Haiti. The hip hop culture and creativity overall is embedded in the roots of Harlem so I sort of feel as if I was born into it. Started rapping in the 5th grade and back then the cafeteria was our version of The Apollo where only those who had lyrical prowess could get to shine. Since then I’ve been perfecting my skills and learned to appreciate the amount of influence that music has.

What influences you in making Hip Hop?

What influences me when making music is my environment and experiences. I have a certain need to make a difference in people’s lives who are going through things so if I can make a song that lets you know you know you’re not alone or that can ignite that spark inside of you then I’ve succeeded.

Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?

My music is the type of music that there’s always an occasion for. I always try to change-up my message by exploring different levels of content. One track might want to make you want to get on your A game demolish an obstacle that’s in your way ( Go Harder) to setting the mood for some great make up sex. What separates me from other artists is my need to be original in content and delivery. I’m not an artist to be a gimmick or to empress anybody, I’m an artist to inspire others to be great.

Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?

The list is too long for me to write everyone’s name but some of my favorite collaborations would be with Sef Luci, Figga Face and Kay’vion simply because they challenged me to creatively push the envelope. In the near future would love to collaborate with Kid Cudi, Joey Badass, J.Cole and Partynextdoor.

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

My definition of underground Hip Hop is raw crack. It’s the place where you can get all of what you needed to hear, pure 1000 percent creative expression.

Production wise, who are your influences?

I’ve always admired the brilliance of Swizz Beats and Kanye.

Any current or future projects you are promoting?

I’m currently promoting my upcoming mixtape “Witness The Dream” set to be released in late June.

Whats your goal in this Hip Hop business?

My current goal is to get the world to vibe to my music, know my name and only then can I move to the next level.

Where can we find your music and info?

You can find my music on:
Soundcloud: Kimosabe Stat
Reverbnation: Stat Bonkerz
Hot 97’s Who’s next: Statbonkerz

Any Shout Outs?

I want to give a shout out to all the people I’ve had an opportunity to work with, all the people who took the time to listen to my music. I’d like to thank my entire family for being backbone!
