Kriswontwo – Q&A Interview

Kriswontwo02

Kriswontwo, where are you from and where does your artist name originate?

I’m from Copenhagen, Denmark. Actually when I started out producing I never thought about having an artist name, I was just doing music. But my friends told me I had to get one, so I gave my self 10 seconds to find on, and it was the first thing that came up…

Congratulations on your debut album “CEREMONI”, how do you describe the project to the 1st time listener?

Thank you man. I would say that the listener should listen from start to finish. It will tell You that I am an experimental producer who always searches for new ways of doing things. I try to be open-minded and not necessarily wanting to fit into what’s popular right now.

We notice some legendary guest appearances on your project, who was your favorite artist to work with?

Wow, I learn’t so much from working with every one of them, I can’t name just one favorite! There is a good story though with the Omar session. My friend Jonas Rendbo had booked a couple of gigs with Omar in Copenhagen and he also hosted a studio session for Omar to record a chorus. He then asked if I would engineer it and I said yes of course hoping to meet in person with the legend himself. So I set everything up and got the studio ready, but when Omar & Jonas came through the other artist was late – so I asked Omar if I could play him some music. Luckily he liked it and started writing immediately. When the artist showed up we had finished the whole track, and it was a wrap. It was a great session and we vibed really well! Bigup up to Omar, no doubt!

I remember the days fans use to buy an album based solely on the album cover, you def gave your project some unique art work. Breakdown the concept and who did the artwork on that?

No doubt man, I still feel that way. You get the whole first impression from the album cover, it’s really important! The Japanese painter, Tokio Aoyama, did the painting. He was just freestyling while listening to the instrumentals of the album. When he sent it back, I saw that he painted a ceremony going on around the turntable. That’s why the album is called “CEREMONI”. He painted what he heard and I named it after what I saw.

What formats is the album available in? (Digital, Hardcopy, Vinyl, Links, etc)

It’s on all streaming services and in October the vinyl drops. You can already order it now @ www.kriswontwo.com

Any future promotional runs for the album? (Shows, Tours, Meet & Greets, etc)

Actually I’m locked in the studio right now finishing a couple of new projects with some really fresh cats, you definitely want to keep your ears out for the future drops!

Now, the question we ask everybody. What is your definition of Underground Hip Hop?

That’s a big question. That’s where the heart and soul of the culture is.

Lastly, feel free to shout out all the people who helped you with the project.

I’d really like to shout out the SomeOthaShip crew! Big up to Dudley Perkins for guiding me during the album process and also Georgia for advice! Besides all the vocalists you see on the tracklist, I’ve had some incredibly talented musicians jamming with me for some good time now, and they are also on the album: MonoNeon, Carl Mörner, Peter Marott, Mads Mathias, Buscrates, August Campeotto, Kay Young!
