Tell us a little about yourself. Where are you from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
My Name Is Nique, I’m From Aurora, IL And I’ve Been Pursuing Music Since The Summer Of 2006.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
Some Of My Influences Include My Family, The City Im From, Nature, And World Events.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
My Music Is Pure Hip Hop, Mixed With Rap And R&B. Everything I Say In My Lyrics Comes Entirely From The Heart. Real Life Rap Is One Of Favorite Components To My Music. What Seperates Me From Other MC’s Is That I’m Okay With Taking Risks And Accepting Failure. I Also Like To Switch Up Different Rap Patterns When Doing My Verses.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
In The Past Few Years And Projects I Have Been Keeping The Music Entirely About Me, So There Hasn’t Been An Collaborations Other Than My Brother Che-d Kavian. In The Future I Would Love To Collab With My Favorite Rapper Wale, As Well As Tinashe, Chris Brown, Lupe Fiasco, Childish Gambino & J Cole.
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
My Definition Of Underground Hip Hop Would Be A Genre Of It’s Own Filled With Artist Like Myself With A Hunger For Success, Trying To Show The World That Real Music Still Exists In Different Forms Of Rap.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? and who would you like to work with?
I Love Kanye’s Production As Well As Pharrell, Hit-Boy, Timbaland, & Mike Will Made-It. My Production As Of Lately Has Been Done By Mainly Maze Rockwell, Oab Jenkins & DJ Prepaid. I Would Love To Work With The Producers I Mentioned As Well As No I.D. & DJ Mustard.
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
Currently Still Promoting My Debut EP “Great Expectations”. Looking Forward To Possibly Releasing My Third Mixtape At Some Point This Year.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of Nique-Great Expectations EP? Also/ tell us a little bit about the concept and idea behind your Album/Mixtape Cover Art.
The Process Behind “Great Expectations” Stems From Me Basically Telling Where I’m At Currently As An Upcoming Artist Trying To Gain Recogniton. The Title Itself Comes From Me Being Self Motivated I Have Great Expectations For Myself And The People Who Support Me Such As My Family, Friends, And City Have Those Same Great Expectations For Me. The EP Is Basically The Soundtrack Of My Life At This Point. The Cover Art Was Done By Linshuttr Who Has Done Work For Wale Which Is How I Came Across His Work. The Cover Shows Me With A Grammy In My Hands Basically Depicting My Dream To Bring A Grammy Back To My Hometown. It Shows The House I Grew Up In When I First Began Rapping, It Also Shows Some Local Landmarks From My Hometown As Well.
