Q&A With Atlanta Based Hip Hop Artist P.U.R.P.
What motivated you to create this style of music. And how did you come up with your MC name P.U.R.P.?
In all honesty I’m a very moody person that has been through a lot of situations from different angles in life so I create my music based around those moments and my emotions. P.U.R.P. starts for Presenting yoU Real Presidential, but the name itself is purple because that’s my favorite color lol.
How is the underground sound out in Atlanta, GA?
It’s dope. A lot of artists with various sounds and their own vibes. It’s an amazing thing.
How are you dealing with this whole nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 CoronaVirus? Has this affected your music career in any way?
Right now I’m just stockpiling music and releasing as I see fit since it’s not much else I can do. And yes, I had quite a few shows lined up starting in April as well and some traveling events so it really put majority of my plans on hold outside of the creating of music
Who are your biggest Hip Hop influences?
T.I. , Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z…..in no particular order.
You recently dropped a new EP “Trapped in Quarantine” across all streaming platforms! Please give us some background on that project!? Could you tell me the inspiration behind the project and artwork?
I don’t know about a lot of other people but my mind is always running, especially when I’m sitting around with nothing really to do and with this project I wanted to show some of them random thoughts about my life. The artwork is what my mobile recording setup looks like. I record myself majority of the time so I keep a setup with me that I can put up anywhere I’m at when I feel like it.
How does social media play a role in pushing P.U.R.P. music.
Truth be told if social media wasn’t needed for today’s music industry then I probably wouldn’t have it or I would rarely use it but it’s major because people need to see my brand. They need to know what I represent and who I am, that I’m the actual person that I am in my music.
What are a few different moves you’re making for 2020 when it comes to your music career?
Focusing more on showcasing my brand as a whole. I need people to know more of me. And I have a few EPs that I’m releasing and an album the end of the year.
Our most popular question….What is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
Hip Hop in it’s truest form. Before all the label execs come in and mold you to an make believe image to appeal, when an artist is in their most comfortable state.
Where can our BLOG audience find your music and follow you on social media?
They can go to my website www.presidentialforever.com for all my music and merchandise.
