Q&A With Chicago Based Hip Hop Artist El Stacko

Congratulations on your latest album release “Based On A True Story”. We checked it out and we really enjoyed the fresh new sound & perspective on new Hip Hop coming out of Chicago. What motivated you to create this style of music. And how did you come up with your emcee name El Stacko?

Thank you for having me on here. This style of rap, is like a pain rap, I liked to call it reality music, I came up with it from the pain and struggles in my life. My name was A.R Stackz at first, I’m on a different level now then I was back then, I felt EL Stacko was the new me and I ran with it, it’s catchy.

How is the underground Hip Hop scene out in Chicago right now?

The underground rap scene in Chicago is lit right now, many artists are getting their names out there and being heard every day.

How are you dealing with this whole nationwide lockdown due to Covid-19 CoronaVirus? Has this affected your music career in any way?

Dealing with COVID-19 was frustrating at first, but after a while it was nothing, I got back to work and honestly I couldn’t let the whole virus thing stop me from trying to accomplish my goals. One thing I can’t wait to do is shows, that’s coming soon.

Who is your biggest Chicago Hip Hop influence?

My biggest influence in the Chicago rap scene as of now, is Lil Durk. He came a long way, he put on for the city and he makes real music. And I have to say Kanye West, because of his genius mindset and he’s very creative with everything he does.

You recently dropped a new album “Based On A True Story” across all streaming platforms! Please give us some background on the project? Could you tell me the inspiration behind the album artwork?

The album represents the struggle, pain and confusions that I had in life, I tried to make an album that people can hear and relate too, and for listeners to be like “I felt that”. I wanted a cover that reads pain, the broken screen represents the times I felt cut off or left out, when I was being nothing but, one hunnid.

How does social media play a role in pushing El Stacko. Which is your favorite platform (FB, TWITTER, IG).

Social media plays a big role, in Chicago trying to sell CD’s on the street is really rare lol, nowadays no one is buying CD’s lol, everybody on these sites lurking around every day, every minute and new artists are being discovered every day. I mean I’m not going to say favorite but I fucks with Facebook, I’m still learning IG.

We have to ask, with all this social discourse and revolt, protesting and rioting, exposed police brutality toward blacks and BLM, how do you feel about this? We would love your perspective on the climate we are living in right now?

About all the police brutality shit, it’s like they (police) should’ve known we were going to get tired of them just handling us any type of way, beatings, killing etc. Now we are standing up for ourselves and being heard.

What are a few different moves you’re making for 2020 when it comes to your music career?

My 2020 moves, can’t say too much but I can tell you a mixtape will be here soon. we are just working man, big things coming.

Our most popular question….What is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

My definition of underground hip hop, it’s like a crawl before you walk thing for me. You are getting your name and your brand out there locally, you are learning things and meeting other artist that are trying to come up too. Then if you do it right and stay focused, you might get known globally.

Where can our BLOG audience find your music and follow you on social media?

You can find me on Facebook, EL Stacko, IG, @elstacko4. You can find “Based On A True Story”, my Album On Apple Music, Pandora, Spotify etc.

Any shout outs.

Shout out my whole team AMG/LSB and big up to everybody that I know trying to make it off this rap shit, so they can feed their families, and also shout you guys UGHHBLOG for showing me love and having me on your site it’s a blessing
