Q&A With Detroit’s Very Own Rising Hip Hop Artist World P

Hey World P! Please tell us how many years you’ve been making music? Where are you from? Most importantly, how did you get your MC name?

I grew up all throughout Michigan from Detroit, Belleville, Port Huron, Roseville, etc but the city  that help cultivate me is a small city called Clinton Township, known better as, Quinn Rd.

I’m a new inspiring artist who has just started doing music, although I’ve always been drawn to melodies and word play. I grew up freestyling but never tried to pursue my artistic desire until now.

My emcee name I choose initially as a nickname so I didn’t have to use my government and it stuck so it was a no brainer once I decided to pursue music that it would follow me.

What separates you from all the other up and coming MC’s in your city and nationwide?

There are many characteristics that separate me from other mcs, one is I don’t have a typical Detroit sound and my content is diverse. I prefer not to be labeled or put into a hip hop genre or style.

Tell us a few artists (producers and emcees) you have collaborated with recently?

For my debut project I didn’t want to do collaborations, I wanted to establish my fan base from fans that enjoy my music not by who I’m affiliated with. My second project I plan to collaborate with some local upcoming and established artists/producers alike.

Your extremely original and really put out a modern Boom Bap and edgy sound and style!!! Please tell us how you describe your sound?

I would describe my sound as a breath of fresh air, rhythmical with a great blend of reality, and overcoming odds.

How are you coping with this whole Covid 19 situation? Has it delayed any new music production by any chance?

As a new artist Covid 19 has given me the time needed to focus on my project on the flip side it has affected promo, performing opportunities, and the ability To interact with fans and other artists/producers directly.

Tell us about your Hip Hop and/or music influences?

I grew up influences by Tupac, LL Cool J, Slick Rick, 2live Crew, Too Short, Ludacris, E40, Boosie Bad Ass, Wanye, DMX & Eminem to name a few.

Please breakdown the creative process of your debut album “I Vibe Differently”. And tell us a little about the album cover concept!

My creative process for my album “I Vibe Different” stem from my passion for entertaining, I’ve always been a writer at heart short stories, raps & poems has help me through my hardships. Due to a plethora of topic to express I usually allow the beat to chose my topic as I hear a melody the content just comes to me usually from experiences or feelings.

Cover artwork. Photographs were taken by Ghani Vision and edited by myself. I just wanted an actual visual that related to my actual personality and character and would allow real to recognize real.

Your honest opinion, out of all the songs on the project, which is the one song you feel stands out the most!?

All the tracks on my album hold significant meaning, but “Aint About That”, track #6 holds the most meaning artistically because it was the first complete track I ever wrote. It resemble brotherhood and loyalty two characteristics that are rear in today’ society.

We have to ask, with all this social discourse and revolt, protesting and rioting, exposed police brutality toward blacks and BLM, how do you guys feel about this? We would love your perspective on the climate we are living in right now?

Today’s climate is a mix between political agendas, discontentment, and entitlement. I’ve personally witness and experience police brutality and opportunities being disproportionately given to White/foreigners oppose to their counterpart (blacks).

If it came down to 1 ALBUM only, what underground Hip Hop album would you consider THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!!???……One 1 album you can choose.

I would consider Tupac the greatest hip hop artist of all times. His music is still relevant to our daily reality.

Here it is! Our most popular question! What is your definition of “underground hip hop”?

Underground hip hop I would define as a genre of rap that would include artists that are not signed to a major label and music that contains more lyrical content oppose to catchy phrases surrounded by over produced and engineered music.
