Q&A With Gee Kazz & Young Moses

Q&A With Gee Kazz & Young Moses

Please tell me how long have you guys been rapping? How did you guys meet? etc

Gee kazz – Well I won’t call my urban style of music rapping, it’s more of a pop feel, lol with a little rock n roll and reggae in there somewhere. Young moses however is the rapper, and he’s a darn awesome one and as far as our crafts go, we both have been doing this pretty much all our lives. We were opportune to meet at the time we did, because it was a significant time in both our lives, I had just released my first single and Y.M was employed into the label as a sound engineer to work on my next single. It was love at first sight, we clicked almost instantly. I loved his style of engineering and got to know he also made music which was even better and since then, well it’s been magic. He finally got signed to the label exclusively as an artist and behold the creation of greatness has since been in motion. Lol”

Are you guys really “Ballers”…LOL Or is that a goal you guys have in mind when it comes to making money off this music game!?

Gee kazz – Haha umm yea.. I won’t exactly call us Ballers in the sence of material possessions and all that good stuff, I mean we have our times of “Balling” lol but we’re pretty much normal people with extraordinary gifts and personalities trying to live the dream, and as far as the term balling goes for me, it’s more of having an amazing life with amazing people to share it with. Also life tends to have a lot of crazy adventures: who’s to say that’s not balling lol. Yes I know we exaggerated things a bit in our song but hey welcome to hip hop.

Tell us about your guys Hip Hop and/or music influences? Any current duo’s you guys look up to?

Gee kazz – Always and forever have been and will be a Gee kazz fan lol, and coming up I’ve always kinda looked up to Micheal Jackson, ice cube, bun b, pimp c, young jeezy, t.I, lucky dube, fela and so much more as a huge influence on my music. And as far as duo’s go I think I look up to myself and Young Moses as my biggest moltivation, he (young moses) makes me challange myself as an artist and a person, it brings out the best in me. Even though I’ve been a huge believer in Self motivation, its good to have someone there who understands you and keeps you in check”.

Its not easy rapping with another person! How have you been been able to find the medium, to be able to be extremely comfortable working with each other?

Gee kazz  – lol like I said I don’t consider myself a rapper, but we have never had that problem, we understand and respect each others style of music and the process we go through to attain perfection in our crafts, regardless of how weird it might be lol.

Rappers nowadays think by throwing up a few videos up on social media and pushing quick projects, they can blow up overnight! Give us your view on how over saturated the market is right now with so many MC’s/Producers but not to many quality music.

Gee kazz – That’s a well phased question, and I believe you’re right, the market is flaming with too many MCs at the moment and yes while some of them are really creatively involved with the hard work and sacrifice it takes to gain recognition and respect in the urban community, others are just doing their best to get noticed with the little they have, and while that is admirably, it also tarnishes the hip hop name and I think that’s why most rappers just decide to go with the trend rather than set theirs, or be true to themselves. But hey who are we to tell an individual what’s right or wrong, as long as you believe in what you’re doing to get there just keep your head high brother.

Tell us about the creative process to your latest single “Ballers Ave”?

Ballers ave was inspired truly by the life of our labels ceo,(Mr Bright) I had a different vision when we received the beat from Rance 1500 or nothing (who by the way killed it.) It was supposed to be a calm record with a reggae and rap feel to it and young moses destroyed the verse on the previous version,(awww was soo good) but after much reflection on the idea on the record and how turnt up we wanted it to influence our fans I decided to write a ball ass song about how bad ass our boss’s life is Lol and there you go. Ballers Ave…” I got that sushi”.

Here it is! Our most popular question! What is your guys definition of “underground hip hop”?

Gee kazz – To me I will say underground hip hop is the real deal, you know it’s influence mainly by real life and real struggle, not the whole media painted picture of what hip hop has become, or the socially celebrated and accepted act which is now whatever the labels and radios tell the public real hip hop is. Like I said growing up I had a lot of musical influences by the real urban underdogs.”
