Q&A With New Jersey Based Hip Hop Artist C-Black

Hey C-Black, we would like to thank you for your contribution to underground Hip Hop and keeping the culture alive! Your new album “Unlimited Dreamer” is impressive!!! Please tell us what exact area code you represent? How long have you been making music? How did you come up with your emcee name?

Very much appreciated!! I represent the 973 born and raised! I want a say I have been making music roughly 19 years but been really putting full projects out, videos, shows etc… for about 10 years now. I came up with the emcee name C-black back in high school my close friends would always call me crazy so that’s where the C comes into play, and Black has to just do with a representation of my people of color along with my current brand “Black Poetry”.

What influenced you to become a Hip Hop artist? What were the main factors that got you into, quote on quote, “Underground Hip Hop”?!

I think a lot of things come into factor when talking about influence but mainly the standout is I’ve always since an adolescent has had an itch for writing my thoughts down whether it be in poetry form or just in general. Then as time progressed I started finding myself listening to a lot of 2Pac and realizing that i can somehow match my words to a rhythm or beat. So basically the main factors that got me into “Underground Hip hop” would be, 2Pac, Poetry, and as cliche, as it might sound, Life.

How important is it for you to stay ORIGINAL? How would you describe your style?

I think staying Original is “very” important, a big key factor in Hip Hop. If I could describe my style it would definitely be “original”, “versatile”, “thought-provoking”

Tell us about the creative process for your new album “Unlimited Dreamer”!

I approached this project with the mindset of someone who refuses to let go of their dreams. In retrospect lets say, an “Unlimited Dreamer’ is someone who continues to dream or chase they’re dreaming for so long that it eventually becomes reality. I took that outlook and built the album around it.

In 2019, who will be on your personal music rotation playlist!? Any new artists you are listening to?

In 2019 the artist that will be on my personal playlist would have to be Silent Knight, J Cole, Big Krit , Nas, Kendrick Lamar.  Yes, one of the new artists I am listening to is Authentik, a dope R&B singer out of Jersey!

Any new projects and videos you are working on? Planning on a tour anytime soon?

Currently working on my next project titled “Black Poetry Vol 2” and getting ready to release the video in about another week to “Untouchable” off of “Unlimited Dreamer” shot by Bpplz.  I have been in talks with the creative collectives that I work with about setting up a little “Black Poetry” tour but right now it’s just in the talks, we will see what manifests going forward!

Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
