Rapper kC – Q&A Interview
Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
Alright, I’m from a town called Sundsvall, we call it Soundvilla, in mid-sweden, east coast line. Small town, we about 100 000 living here. Jumped on my first open mic session in 98´, been writing and recording ever sense then. Iv´e been a part of a couple of formations. Tour de Force, Gingerkings and the ongoing project, Sqacaas, whit my buddy Andreas. I also Dj and Mc in the Reggae sound, Resolute.
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
My two bigger brothers always been a big influence, they were the ones that put me on to Hiphop. They were into all kind of music and played in various bands and different genres. They were into that west coast feel really deep, copying slang, style and all of that. Like a said, they put me on. I feel in love whit the hole culture, starting whit graff, then worked my way through all four elements.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
I concentrate very much on the feel. A song got to make you feel something, more than just bumping your head, nah mean. Organic and down to earth but still banging.
I’m a Soul & RnB cat, and i think you can here that if you listen to my music. A lot of emotions, specially on the new album, Vibes Of Life.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
Theres a few collaborations I’m really proud about. Promoe (Looptroop Rockers) is one, been listening to him sense i started more or less. His a real heavyweight in the game. Jamall bufford, Buff1 (Athletic mic league) is another, fan first you know. Hometown pioneers Supersci was big for me, they paved the way whit their original sound. Shout out to Professor P & Dj Akilles, Prop Dylan, Trainspotters … aswell!
Chords are on my top 5, mos def! But also Antone Mecca, Parham and the hole Looptroop Rockers would be awesome. Very much sweden here. In the states, from the top of my head, Blu, Phonte or a legend like Masta Ace would be crazy. I think me and dwele could make a beautiful track. I dream way, haha!
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
An independent movement
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
Names like J Dilla, Kev Brown,Pete Rock, Madlib and 9th Wonder will always be big influences for me. I work close whit beatmakers Jukebeats, Nag Champa and Andreas Njut. Big up! We four is Rapper kC in a way. I´ll bet they would name the same. But off course I got an open mind and collaborate whit others aswell, Erik L and Gonza beats to name two. Big up!
If i could choose, 9th wonder would be dope.

Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of VIBES OF LIFE? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your Album Art Cover.
I wanted the album to be personal. I wanted it to be me, simple as that. I took away my written battle raps and focused on telling stories, focusing on the vibe, the feel. The Life. The album art describes what the album is, Rapper kC in front, main topic. The lively colors, flower, patterns and pyramid induces a certain vibe of life.
